Joel Moreau has approximately the same amount of chips he had 4 levels ago, but he remains the chip leader. In fact, three of the chip leaders from the last break are still in the top 5. Congratulations to those players, and good luck to all the rest!

    2018/12/13 - 23:18 by Playground Poker

We joined the action with 10,000 in the pot and the flop dealt Jack of Hearts Jack of Clubs 7 of Spades.

Gabriel Samson opened with a bet of 4,000, which Michael Khan (in black on the left) called after some serious thought.

The turn came down a King of Diamonds, which seemed to scare some caution into Gabriel, who checked.

Sensing his trepidation, Michael bet a pot-sized 15,000. This was too much for Gabriel, pushing him out of the hand and scoring Michael a handsome little win.

As we near the end of level 8 (and the beginning of the second break), every extra chip is an advantage.

Chapdelaine ousts Korovine with a flush

    2018/12/13 - 23:04 by Playground Poker

When we arrived at the table, a significant amount of money was already in the pot at table 36, and the action was heating up.

With the board showing Queen of Spades 4 of Spades 9 of Spades, Normand Chapdelaine opened with a bet of 2,000. He was raised 10,000 by the man in the white shades, Mr. Michael Korovine. Normand considered calmly, and called.

The turn was a 6 of Diamonds, and Normand shoved. Michael called, and that was the beginning of the end for him.

Michael: Ace of Spades Jack of Hearts

Normand: King of Spades 7 of Spades

Normand had flopped the second-best flush, and as both players flipped their cards, Michael was putting on his jacket even before the final card was dealt. Only a spade could save him, and unfortunately for him the river was a Queen of Diamonds, ending his night.

At this point we are down to 81 players.

    2018/12/13 - 22:45 by Playground Poker

A moment ago we noticed a showdown in progress, the classic Ace-King v. Ace-Queen battle. Normally any player would rather have AK, but in this particular case it was not the best hand.

Both players got their chips in the middle preflop, and the board was dealt Jack of Hearts 5 of Clubs Queen of Spades 8 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds.

In this case, Roberto Parent’s AQ defeated his opponent’s AK, eliminating him from the tournament. A tough way to go, to be sure. As we have now closed registration, the number of participants will only decrease. Only 94 players remain, and at least 50 more will be eliminated before the end of the night.

    2018/12/13 - 20:51 by Playground Poker

After a little more than eight hours of play, we have a winner in today’s tournament, Event #3 in the 8-Year Anniversary series, a $100 + $10 + $25 Bounty tournament.

Congratulations to Benjamin Mathieu-Comptois on a tournament well played. After battling through a field of 121 entries (which included 30 re-entries), and collecting a whopping twelve $25 Bounties over the course of the day, Benjamin earned a prize of $2,126 plus those bounty chips. Well done!

As the low-stack at the final table, Rejean Bourgogne survived a series of all-in scenarios before Benjamin Mathieu-Comptois finally claimed his bounty chip. Preflop, after Benjamin raised to 60,000, Rejean pushed his entire stack into the pot.

When the players turned their cards, Benjamin showed 6 of Spades 6 of Hearts. Rejean was holding a 9 of Hearts Queen of Hearts. The community cards provided Rejean no luck. The flop was 4 of Hearts 2 of Spades 4 of Diamonds. The dealer then flipped King of Spades on the turn and 7 of Spades on the river.

Just a few moments after Rejean surrendered his bounty chip, Dave Jeanneau-Cyr lost his, as well, when his all-in bid knocked him out of the event.
