Here at Playground we have been playing the $100 + $10 Megastack Turbo Re-entry for 5 hours. A few seconds ago there were two quick eliminations in a row, leaving us with 20 players.

With the blinds at 5K/10K , the average chip stack at  225K and blinds increasing every 15 minutes, we are likely to see some interesting action over the next 90 minutes.

As we near the final three tables, Stephane Dulmaine just used his pocket 5’s to bust Mike Patenaude in 34th place.

Only the top 11 will be paid in this Megastack Turbo, so after a good weekend in which he went deep in a few tourneys, Mike will go home empty handed this time.

Stephane initially raised to 8,500 from mid-position, and Mike’s raise to 21,000 chased everyone else out of the hand. The flop was dealt Jack of Clubs 7 of Clubs 5 of Hearts, and before you knew it Mike had shoved all in. Stephane was happy to call.

Mike: Queen of Spades Queen of Diamonds

Stephane: 5 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs

There was no help on the turn or the river for Mike, and the trip 5’s ended his night.

After 13 levels and 3.5 hours of play the leader of the pack is Leo Hackenbroch. The gentleman in canary yellow slash (a very light) lime green has an impressive number of chips relative to his competition, the closest of which has 214,000.

Congratulations on your work so far! To the rest: keep it up, and good luck!

    2018/12/17 - 15:19 by Playground Poker

As we keep moving up in levels and the blinds keep increasing, more and more players keep leaving us. Alas, that is the nature of tournament poker, especially in a Turbo format.

However, in the latest hand over on table 20 no one was eliminated (for once!). This one started with a few limps moving around the table, but eventually Garry T. raised to 3,600. A few folds later, he found a dance partner in the neighbor to his right, Mike Patenaude.

Flop: 6 of Hearts 6 of Spades 5 of Diamonds

Mike checked to Garry, who raised to 5,000. Mike raised it to 15,000 without batting an eyelash, but the check raise didn’t seem to bother Garry at all.

Somehow, even with that start to the hand, both players checked the turn and the river, which were a Queen of Clubs and a 3 of Clubs, respectively. Both players flipped over their cards, and Mike defeated Garry with his A-8 versus A-7.

    Table 28 is shove city

    • Level: 11
    • Small Blind: 800
    • Big Blind: 1.6K
    • BB Ante: 1.6K
    • Chip Average: 83K

It seems that every hand is an all in over at table 28. And from all the way across the room you can hear them shouting jokes, roaring with emotion and generally enjoying themselves as they battle it out, back and forth.

A player who wins an all in one hand will almost immediately pay off another player (with a smaller stack) on the next hand. This happened just now to Richard Sysko, who paid off Maurice Simard, who himself just paid off Maxime Coderre-Bernier the hand prior, who himself paid off Jay X the hand before that!

In this particular hand, Maurice was all in preflop for 24,000 with 7’s versus Maxime’s AK.

Board: 2 of Hearts 3 of Hearts 9 of Spades 9 of Clubs 2 of Clubs

And just like that, Maurice the action continues, around and around again!

    Jay X doubles up

    • Level: 10
    • Small Blind: 600
    • Big Blind: 1.2K
    • BB Ante: 1.2K
    • Chip Average: 77K
    • Remaining: 55
    • Entries: 85

    2018/12/17 - 14:37 by Playground Poker

After going all in a few times in the last 30 minutes with limited success, Jay X finally made a clean win of it, doubling his relatively short stack by shoving for his 36,000.

He was paid off by Maxime Coderre-Bernier, who was happy to see him stick around. We’re all friends here at Playground!

Nieto takes down a pot, busts Thibault

    • Level: 9
    • Small Blind: 500
    • Big Blind: 1K
    • BB Ante: 1K
    • Chip Average: 75K
    • Remaining: 57
    • Entries: 85

    2018/12/17 - 14:27 by Playground Poker

Dylan Thibault came back from the break, fresh into the no-rebuy period and decided to make a move to get in the game. He shoved preflop for all of his chips, approximately 30,000. In a Turbo event, this is sometimes necessary, as the blinds sometimes increase faster than you would otherwise feel comfortable with.

Dylan was called by Andres Nieto.

Dylan: Queen of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds

Andres: 10 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs

The board was dealt 3 of Clubs Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs, and that was the end of the tournament for Dylan!

    Registration is now closed

    • Big Blind: 600

    2018/12/17 - 13:58 by Playground Poker

Registration is now closed for the Deepstack Turbo Re-entry. The official tally is 85 entries (including 10 re-entries), with 67 players still battling it out on the felt.

    Chip Leader? What chip leader?

    • Level: 7
    • Small Blind: 300
    • Big Blind: 600
    • BB Ante: 600
    • Chip Average: 60K
    • Remaining: 71
    • Entries: 85

    2018/12/17 - 13:53 by Playground Poker

Usually by the first break we can easily identify our chip leaders. Even though the first 2 hours of a tournament is not too long a time, typically 4 or 5 usually emerge from any field.

However, for the first time in many weeks, it seems impossible to identify one. The chips are so evenly distributed, not one player out of the group has double the chip average!

Although this is certain to change by the next break, for now the closest we can get is David Martinez, holding 115,900 chips in his stack.

Good luck to the rest of the group as we move forward!

A great atmosphere at the Megastack Turbo

    • Level: 6
    • Small Blind: 250
    • Big Blind: 500
    • BB Ante: 500
    • Chip Average: 55.5K
    • Remaining: 64
    • Entries: 71

    2018/12/17 - 13:20 by Playground Poker

There have now been 71 entries to the Megastack Turbo Re-entry event here at Playground so far today, and the atmosphere has a very friendly, casual tone to it, with lots of laughs and jokes being exchanged around the 7 tables.

With only 10 minutes remaining in level 6 however, there is only a short time available to join the action.

Some of the players are betting a bit wildly, as they know they can simply rebuy over the next 25 minutes. After that, we suspect, the action will tighten up a bit.

However, let’s hope the camaraderie and positive energy continues to flow, as it usually does here at Playground!
