After a well-played tournament Joel Moreau busted in 16th, collecting $800 for his efforts over the last two days.

The man that bounced him was Gabriel Lessard, who put up a stronger pocket pair preflop, getting all his chips in. Gabriel had 7’s and Joel had 4’s. It was as simple as that.

Board: 6 of Diamonds 5 of Spades Ace of Clubs 8 of Spades Queen of Spades

Mike Patenaude is the only player to reach the 1,000,000 chip milestone so far today, but there are several players close behind him, all in the hunt for as many chips as they can get their hands on as we move towards Day 3, starting tomorrow December 16th at 1pm.

Yannick Labattaglia recently increased his chip stack significantly thanks to the kind but non-voluntary contribution of Mario Page.

When we arrived at the table the hand was already in progress. The flop was dealt Jack of Diamonds Ace of Spades 3 of Hearts, with the action on Yannick. He checked, leading to a 40,000 chip bet by Mario. Yannick raised to 100,000, which was quickly raised again by Mario all in (for an additional 175,000 chips).

Withouth hesitation Yannick called, showing an Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds. This dominated Mario’s Ace of Diamonds Queen of Spades, and the final two cards dealt (6 of Hearts Ace of Hearts) made no difference to the outcome. Mario finishes in 50th place, earning himself $460.

Nicholas Soller (pictured right) recently doubled up at the expense of Gabriel Alacchi in what is turning out to be an increasingly common AA > AK showdown. T

he boys got their money in preflop, with the board coming down 6 of Spades Queen of Diamonds 10 of Hearts 7 of Hearts 5 of Clubs.

Gabriel’s tournament wasn’t done, however, as he covered Nicholas’ stack.

On table 20 Gabriel Lessard recently shoved preflop, and he was far from short-stacked, so it was likely a move designed to collect the blinds. It almost ended his night.

His heart must have skipped a beat when Gino Frenette called, showing his AQ, dominating Gabriel’s AJ.

But the poker gods were kind to Gabriel this time.

The board came down 4 of Spades 3 of Diamonds 3 of Hearts 5 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs, making the wheel for both players.

After just 4 hands of hand-for-hand play, the bubble has burst in the Playground 200. David Perceval is the unfortunate bubble player, and he was particularly unhappy because he made an error in the hand and was surprised that he was all-in on the river at all, let alone all-in, covered, and behind.

While all of this was going on, a few players had noted that on Table 31 in Seat 6, Andrew Molotchko was very short-stacked – he had about one bb left – and had just about 3 hands left until he would have been forced all-in.

Meanwhile on Table 32, play got down to the river on a board reading 5 of Clubs 4 of Spades 5 of Spades King of Hearts 2 of Hearts. Nebil Bensalem bet 30K from the sb using one of the new blue 25K chips and one red 5K chip. When action returned to David, he either didn’t realize the value of the blue 25K chip or hadn’t noticed it at all, and he threw in two red 5K chips while simultaneously saying, “call” – and Nebil tabled his hand. David protested that he thought he was only calling 10K so there was a short delay before the showdown. However. the floor manager was already at the table, and once the dealer clearly explained exactly what had happened, it was clear that David was in fact committed for his entire 30K stack (not just the 10K he had thrown in the middle) and that it was time for the showdown.

Nebil re-tabled his 5 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds for a flopped set and rivered full house, while David tried to muck his hand, only to have the Jack of Spades 10 of Spades tabled – all hands must be tabled in an all-in hand. David sat at his seat in seeming shock for a few minutes after the hand, while at the tournament desk, staff congratulated the rest of the field on being in the money over the PA system.

Andrew Molotchko cashed in 84th place for $340.

After three 40-minute levels we reached the first break. Leading the pack is Gino Frenette, looking slightly surprised below. There are a few other players near him in the leaderboard with approximately half a million chips.

Players have just returned to their seats and are currently playing hand for hand on the bubble. The next player eliminated goes home empty handed, and all others are in the money. Good luck to all players!

Mike Patenaude just crippled his opponent Dylan Thubault on table 24, his Aces cracking Dylan’s AK.

Mike picked up almost 200,000 in the hand, vaulting him into the top of the standings, and severely restricting Dylan’s opportunities as the cutoff looms.

Top 89 are paid, and at the moment there are 95 players still at the table.
