Day 1a had a total of 49 entries, meaning that play will continue until 5 players remain (10% of the field, rounding up). There are just 20 players left playing on 2 tables, so the action should be relatively brisk from here to the end of the flight.
A lot of players so far have average stacks, with only one player currently having gained a huge stack of 75K. That’s sure to change as chips fly across the felt in the sprint to the end of the flight.
First Name | Last Name | Chip Count |
---|---|---|
Olivier | Brossard | 75,000 |
Rene | Theberge | 61,000 |

The second of the ten starting flights in the 6th Anniversary Extravaganza has just begun. In contrast with the first flight this morning, which was a turbo, this starting flight features 20 minute blind levels and late registration is open until the break after level 4. In other words, players can join this flight at any time until 2:30pm.

Day 1a of the Extravaganza is now all the way through to level 9 of this turbo starting flight, and for this first flight of the tournament there were just 49 entries. A snowy morning and related traffic snarls have taken their toll – but that just means there’s more value for everyone!
Day 1b gets going at 1:00pm and is a regular-speed tourney, and later in the day (4:00pm, 7:00pm, and 10:00pm) so there’s still lots of time to jump in the action!

One of the elements of this year’s 6th Anniversary celebrations was the Breakfast of Champions. 2 cash game players per day were selected by random draw to join Larry Robinson and Guy Carbonneau for an exclusive breakfast. The meal got underway at 10:00am and though there were some stragglers due to traffic today, before long the private room at The Rail Coal Fire Bistro was full.
Here are some photos of the event.

Today begins a two-day Extravaganza of poker, consisting of 10 – yes TEN – starting flights in a single tournament. Players can play in as few or as many flights as they wish – there are 5 today and 5 on Sunday – in an attempt to qualify for Day 2 on Monday evening and to compete for the $100,000 guaranteed prize pool in the event!
Action gets underway in just minutes – good luck on the felts!
