With the 6-max tournament on a short chip-up break, we took this chance to bring an update on the leaderboard as play enters level 17. Michel Ghaleb has a big lead on the rest of the field, as he has ran his stack up to 456,500, over 100,000 ahead of 2nd in chips Kevin Bijian.

The 6-max tournament is down to 36 players, evenly split across 6 tables of 6 players. With 17 players scheduled to be paid, the money-bubble is slowly approaching.
The current tournament chip leader is Jonathan Rivest, who has amassed over 220,000 in chips so far through 14 levels of play. Not far behind are Patrice Mailloux (~180,000) and Francesco Presta (~175,000), as well as a slew of other players in the mid 100,000s.
The 5-Year Extravaganza Day 2 is back from a short break, and the T1,000 chips were raced off. In the mean time, a new chip has been introduced: the T100,000 chip. Given this tournament is using a brand new set of chips, which marks the 5-year anniversary Playground is celebrating this weekend, this is the first time these stunning orange and black chips have been brought out in play!
During the break, the tournament director announced that Day 2 will resume upon the completion of 3 more 40-minute levels. Once time is up, the remaining players will bag and tag onto Day 3 tomorrow.

The 6-max tournament has just come off it’s second break of the night, and a little over half of the starting field remains. The current chip leader is Imran Hussain, who is just shy of 100,000 in chips, but a few players are right on his tail.

Registration has just closed in the 6-max event, part of the Playground Anniversary Series, and a total of 165 players took their seats in this short-handed bounty event.

As expected, action has been fast and furious here at the start of Day 2. We’ve already lost 44 players so far after only two levels of play, as many of the short stacks we relieved of the pressure of the bubble and were able to take some chances in an attempt to run up their stacks, knowing that they have already secured at least a minimum cash.

After 10 starting flights of the 5-Year Extravaganza, the surviving players are back to continue the tournament, as Day 2 takes place tonight at 7pm. All players returning tonight have already earned a spot in the money, locking in at least $150, while the winner is looking to pocket a huge $18,000 cash prize!
163 players have made it through Day 1, but since 2 players have qualified twice (Roger Lamarre and Mario Page), only 161 will be taking their seats tonight, while these two players will earn themselves a minimum-cash for their extra stacks.
Play will be 9-handed tonight, and the tournament resumes at level 17. The plan is to play down until the final table of 10 players, who will then bag and tag their chips onto Day 3 tomorrow, where the tournament will play down until conclusion.
