Day 1g had a total of 230 entries and played down on Day 1 to the following 23 players remaining.

The following are player-provided counts and although we do our utmost to verify that players are reporting their precise count, it’s the physical chips sealed in their bags which are returned to play on Day 2.

Day 1g, which was the second largest of the 9 flights to date of the 5-Year Extravaganza, has just come to a close. 23 of the 230 runners have made a seat onto Day 2, and it was Anthony Suire who bagged the biggest of the stacks of this flight, as he ended the day with 381,500 chips. Bashar Raffi also bagged a very healthy stack, as he managed to turn his 15,000 starting stack into a massive 343,000.

Play has just entered level 13 in Day 1g of the 5-Year Extravaganza, and the 230 player field has been reduced down to 63. Three players seem to share the chip lead at the moment, as Yan Primeau, Fancesco Presta and Philippe Drouin all hold stacks between 130,000 and 140,000. Blinds have just switched to 30-minute levels, and play will continue until only 23 players remain.

The players in Day 1g have just returned from a break and we found a single player over 100K among the currently active players, another just 5K under the century mark, and a few others around the 75K mark. The current leader is Bashar Raffi and right behind him is Francesco Presta at 95K. In the group behind these leaders is Philippe Drouin, Adamo Giroux, and Kuong Chhe Kuoch.

Play has just begun in level 9, and considering the high likelihood that they reach 10% of the field in level 18 or 19… there’s still a very long way to go.

The first break has come and gone in Day 1g in the 5-Year Extravaganza and the final number of entries in this starting flight was 230 – just a little bit behind yesterday’s 240 in the corresponding flight (Day 1c). This means that this flight will play down to 23 players remaining.

By the way, there is a $55,555 Guaranteed prize pool in the event, and based on the number of entries so far, the tournament has blown right past that number. With the final number at 230 for this flight, the total number of entries in the tournament is now 1,081 and the prize pool has moved past $70K – with each additional entry adding to that total in the remaining 3 starting flights of the event!

Players have just taken their seats and cards are now in the air in the 7th of 10 starting flights in the 5-Year Extravaganza! If yesterday was any indication, this 1pm flight should be among the largest of all of the starting flights in the tournament. Although action has just begun in level 1, there are already 176 players that have been seated, so the pattern from yesterday seems to be repeating itself today.

Players have until the end of the first break to register, which is to say they can join the tourney until 2:30pm today. If you’re interested in playing, however, you should note that after 200 players join we will move to alternate seating, and there is a cap of 50 alternates who will be admitted. It’s probably a good idea to not leave it to the very last minute to avoid disappointment.
