Play has just entered level 13 in Day 1g of the 5-Year Extravaganza, and the 230 player field has been reduced down to 63. Three players seem to share the chip lead at the moment, as Yan Primeau, Fancesco Presta and Philippe Drouin all hold stacks between 130,000 and 140,000. Blinds have just switched to 30-minute levels, and play will continue until only 23 players remain.

Registration has just closed in Day 1h, and a total of 209 players turned up for this flight. This brings our total number of entries up to 1290 after 8 flights, with still 2 more flights to go. Day 1h will play down until 21 players remain.
After only 4 levels of play, Miguel Lefebvre has managed to accumulate over 150,000 in chips so far, which is actually the rough average stack at the completion of Day 1. His stack dwarfs any other player’s stack in this flight so far, but the day is far from over.

Just 16 remain in Day 1f
The first flight to have started today, Day 1f, has made its way through to level 16 and there are just 16 players remaining on two tables. Play will stop when 10 players remain, so the tourney is getting very close to the Day 2 and money bubble (which are the same).
Randy Khalil was the chip leader as this level began, playing a 160K stack, and former chip leader Guillaume M is breathing down his neck with 155K. Nassim Kabbara is close to the leaders as well, with 148K in his stack.
This flight should wrap up in the next 2-3 levels, and it’s likely that there is still some significant chip movement to come.
Day 1h is underway!
The 7th starting flight to the 5-Year Extravaganza is well underway now, as play has just reached level 2 in Day 1h. There are already 144 players seated in this flight, and late registration is still open for around another hour or so, as it closes at 5:30pm. Through the first 6 flights, we’ve seen an impressive 1081 entries up to date, well surpassing the $55,555 guarantee.
Anyone wishing to participate in this event still has the chance, by either jumping into Day 1h before 5:30pm, or by registering in either of the two remaining flights tonight, with Day 1i scheduled at 7pm, and Day 1j at 10pm.
As with the other flights, play will resume in Day 1h once 10% of the field has been reached, and all players that make it through to Day 2 are guaranteed a spot in the money.

Leaderboard update – Day 1g
The players in Day 1g have just returned from a break and we found a single player over 100K among the currently active players, another just 5K under the century mark, and a few others around the 75K mark. The current leader is Bashar Raffi and right behind him is Francesco Presta at 95K. In the group behind these leaders is Philippe Drouin, Adamo Giroux, and Kuong Chhe Kuoch.
Play has just begun in level 9, and considering the high likelihood that they reach 10% of the field in level 18 or 19… there’s still a very long way to go.
Registration is closed in Day 1g
The first break has come and gone in Day 1g in the 5-Year Extravaganza and the final number of entries in this starting flight was 230 – just a little bit behind yesterday’s 240 in the corresponding flight (Day 1c). This means that this flight will play down to 23 players remaining.
By the way, there is a $55,555 Guaranteed prize pool in the event, and based on the number of entries so far, the tournament has blown right past that number. With the final number at 230 for this flight, the total number of entries in the tournament is now 1,081 and the prize pool has moved past $70K – with each additional entry adding to that total in the remaining 3 starting flights of the event!

Day 1f had 100 total entries, which means it will play down to just 10 players remaining today. The tournament is now entering level 13 and there are still 35 players in the action. If the patterns from yesterday hold, then the 10% threshold should be reached in level 18 (plus or minus one level) – which means there is still a lot of poker to be played in the next 5 or so levels!
Guillaume M is the current chip leader in this flight, currently playing a 110K stack. There are 3 or 4 players just a step behind him in the 75K to 80K range as well

The Day 1g field has so far lived up to the expectations that were set yesterday and is now the 2nd largest of the 7 starting flights that have begun so far. There are currently 222 players who have registered, with one level of late registration still available.

Up now: Day 1g in the 5-Year Extravaganza
Players have just taken their seats and cards are now in the air in the 7th of 10 starting flights in the 5-Year Extravaganza! If yesterday was any indication, this 1pm flight should be among the largest of all of the starting flights in the tournament. Although action has just begun in level 1, there are already 176 players that have been seated, so the pattern from yesterday seems to be repeating itself today.
Players have until the end of the first break to register, which is to say they can join the tourney until 2:30pm today. If you’re interested in playing, however, you should note that after 200 players join we will move to alternate seating, and there is a cap of 50 alternates who will be admitted. It’s probably a good idea to not leave it to the very last minute to avoid disappointment.

Leaders in Day 1f
The players remaining in Day 1f (the flight that began this morning at 10am) have just taken their second break of the day. We surveyed the remaining stacks while players were on break and found that just two players seem to have built up a large chip lead at this point – Kenneth Ransom with 62K and Stephane Sevigny with just a hair under 70K in chips.
Play has resumed in level 9 – and there’s lots of time left for any player in the field to build up her or his own huge stack!
