There’s slightly more flexibility in the other flights being played today, but the 10am Day 1f flight had a hard capacity of 70 players plus 30 alternates – and that capacity was reached midway through level 2 and by the beginning of level 4, all 100 players had taken their seats.

On this particular Sunday, that means there are 5 more starting flights of the 5-Year Extravaganza, part of the Playground Anniversary Series. Yesterday’s batch of 5 starting flights attracted a total of 751 entries and we’re expecting a similar number today, as players try to qualify for Day 2 on Monday evening.
Today’s first flight – Day 1f – has just gotten underway, and there are already 69 players at the tables and a maximum of 100 total (including alternates) that will be permitted to play. Late registration is open until 11:30, but if you want to play in Day 1f it would probably be a good idea to make your way to Playground Poker Club relatively soon.
In any case, there is another flight starting at 1pm, so either way – if you get here, you’ll be able to play!

There were a total of 751 entries in all 5 flights of Day 1 that ran on Saturday December 19th. With the breakdown of the numbers per flight, this means that 77 entries qualified for Day 2. The following is a compiled list of all of these qualifying entries.
One player has qualified twice for Day 2 – Roger Lamarre. Both qualifying stacks remain listed in the following table, though only his largest stack will be in the tournament when play resumes on Monday evening for Day 2. The player will receive a min-cash for his 2nd retired stack in addition to whatever payout he eventually receives as Day 2 plays out.
The chip average (including just the 76 top stacks for this calculation) is 147,500 chips.

Here are a few photos from Day 1e, the final turbo flight of the 5 that ran today in the 5-Year Extravaganza. Registration in the event is up to 50 players. Registration will close in about 20 minutes so although a few more players may join in, this is pretty close to the final tally for the flight.
Play in Day 1c has reached the break following level 15 and there are just 28 players remaining of the 156 total entries that began play at 4pm. Among these 28 players are two huge chip leaders – Alex Arsenault with 292K and Francois Tarrab with 178K.
Play will continue until 16 players remain.
The final starting flight of today’s 5 that are being played has just gotten underway. This flight is a turbo version of the same structure – meaning that blinds are just 15 minutes long all the way through until just 10% of the field remains.
Action began just a few minutes ago but so far there are just 33 players at the tables – one of the more interesting pre-event questions was how many runners these turbo flights would attract.
