The final flight of the 5-Year Extravaganza is moments away from it’s start, and this is the last chance for players to try to make their seat for Day 2. After 9 flights so far, we have seen a total of 1498 entries for this tournament, smashing the $55,555 guarantee.

This 10pm start will follow a turbo format, where blinds will be 15-minutes long throughout the night, and late registration will remain open until around 10:10pm.

    Day 1h is now down to 4 tables, as only 40 players remain. Given the field was of 209 players to start, play will end once only 21 remain.

    Miguel Lefevbre continues to lead the way after having a surreal start, and turning 15,000 into over 150,000 in just 4 levels. He now holds around 230,000 which is the current chip lead. Other healthy stacks include Reginald Charles (~185,000), Patrick St-Onge (~170,000) and Dominic Marcotte (~165,000).

    Day 1g, which was the second largest of the 9 flights to date of the 5-Year Extravaganza, has just come to a close. 23 of the 230 runners have made a seat onto Day 2, and it was Anthony Suire who bagged the biggest of the stacks of this flight, as he ended the day with 381,500 chips. Bashar Raffi also bagged a very healthy stack, as he managed to turn his 15,000 starting stack into a massive 343,000.

    Only one more flight remains for this Playground Anniversary Series event, as Day 1j is set to start at 10pm tonight. This will be the last chance for players to make their seat for Day 2!

    The tables are set, the dealers are seated and the players are already rolling in to take their seats for this 9th flight of the 5-Year Extravaganza! So far this tournament has proven to be a very popular one, as we’ve already seen 1290 entries over 8 flights, well surpassing the $55,555 guarantee boasted by Playground.

    This will be the before last opportunity for players to qualify for Day 2, make sure not to miss your chance! Late registration will remain open through until the end of the first break, or roughly 8:30pm. After this there is only one more flight left, as Day 1j is set for 10pm tonight, and will be a turbo format with 15-minute levels instead of 20.

    With the recent elimination of Guillaume M., Day 1f has just come to a close, and 10 players have made their seats for Day 2 of this 5-Year Extravaganza. With just 5 big blinds to his name, and facing a button raise from Rejean Labbe, Guillaume looked down at a face card and decided it was time to get his chips in. His Queen of Clubs 3 of Diamonds was behind the Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts of Rejean, and with no help on the board, he was sent home one spot away from making Day 2.

    With that pot, Rejean finished the flight with the biggest stack, and will be returning to Day 2 with 289,500 to his name.

    Play has just entered level 13 in Day 1g of the 5-Year Extravaganza, and the 230 player field has been reduced down to 63. Three players seem to share the chip lead at the moment, as Yan Primeau, Fancesco Presta and Philippe Drouin all hold stacks between 130,000 and 140,000. Blinds have just switched to 30-minute levels, and play will continue until only 23 players remain.

    After only 4 levels of play, Miguel Lefebvre has managed to accumulate over 150,000 in chips so far, which is actually the rough average stack at the completion of Day 1. His stack dwarfs any other player’s stack in this flight so far, but the day is far from over.

    The first flight to have started today, Day 1f, has made its way through to level 16 and there are just 16 players remaining on two tables. Play will stop when 10 players remain, so the tourney is getting very close to the Day 2 and money bubble (which are the same).

    Randy Khalil was the chip leader as this level began, playing a 160K stack, and former chip leader Guillaume M is breathing down his neck with 155K. Nassim Kabbara is close to the leaders as well, with 148K in his stack.

    This flight should wrap up in the next 2-3 levels, and it’s likely that there is still some significant chip movement to come.
