Day 2 has wrapped

2017/11/22 - 23:50 by

Day 2 in the CPP MILLIONS Main Event is in the books after 7 75-minute levels and even with more than half of the day permitting re-entries, just 226 players remain in the event. The leader after Day 2 is Troy Quenneville, who is followed closely by two Quebec-based players: Kevin Rivest and François Billard.

Kevin has a track record of success in events with structures similar to this one: his largest career score was a victory in the Canadian Poker Championship, held during the World Cup of Cards this past September. François Billard isn’t quite as well known at Playground, but everyone knows about his impressive skills – and impressive poker resume.

Some additional players in today’s Day 2 that will be of interest include Ruben Perceval, William Blais, Jonathan Roy, Nic Basile, Ema Zajmovic, Darren Keyes, and Rodney Ramalho.

The tournament has just surpassed 1,000 total entries, meaning that with late registration still open, the $5,000,000 guarantee has been attained – a terrific achievement for everyone involved.

Play has just begun in level 11 and play in the tournament is now officially 9-handed, after starting the day 10-handed and having 8-handed play as the ultimate goal for today.

During the break we managed to find some of the largest stacks in the entire tournament, and though this is not an exhaustive list, it seems that these are among the chip leaders so far today. It’s worth noting that while the 3rd and 4th player on this list started among the top leaders on the day, the 1st and 2nd player on this list started with above-average but otherwise unremarkable counts today.

Registration in this event continued throughout Day 1 and will be open through the first 4 levels of Day 2 – and in just minutes, that Day 2 registration period will reach its half-way point. This means that there will be just 2 75-minute levels left during which players may enter or re-enter the event. Demand shows no signs of letting up today, and even a player who joins at the last minute will start with 25bb – low, but definitely not out of the norm for any tournament player!

During the coming break tournament staff will remove the 1K chips from play and we’ll see if we can spy a chip leader in the tournament.

There are simply a ton of players we know well at Playground still in the field for Day 2 – here are photos of some of them.

Day 2 is on now!

2017/11/22 - 13:10 by

Day 2 of the Main Event here at the Caribbean Poker Party began about an hour ago and a day that started as a big day is only getting bigger.

The seating draw was produced with 9 players per table, leaving the #10 seat for Day 2 registrants, but the demand is very high and will continue to be right until the end of level 12.

Overall entries are already up to 924 total – a not-quite 200-player boost from the Day 1s, and registrations show no signs of slowing down.

Good luck to all today!
