    10th place: Marcello Iacovella

Marcello Iacovella came into the day as one of the shorter stacks, but managed to grind his way through some hoops and hurdles to finally earned a spot on the elusive final table. Time and time again his chips found themselves in the middle, and every time they came back with some new founds friends.

That is until just moments ago, where he took advantage of an unopened pot to move his last 625,000 chips into the middle from the button. For 425,000 more, and last to act, Jean-Hugo Robitaille couldn’t refuse the offer from the big blind, even with a less-than-marginal hand.

Marcello: King of Spades Queen of Spades

Jean-Hugo: Jack of Hearts 5 of Clubs

Jean-Hugo picked up a pair on the Jack of Clubs Ace of Hearts 7 of Spades 2 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts board, which was enough to knock Marcello out in 10th place.

    10th place: Marcello Iacovella – $2,070

    Final Table

With 10 players remaining, there has been a full seating redraw as the players have come together on the final table. The average stack is still 20bb deep so there is a little play left in the tournament, but with a couple of big stacks dominating, the pace should remain relatively brisk at the final table.

    Leroux 12th; Siamak 11th

With under 10 big blinds to his name, Stephane Leroux moved in with some paint cards (King of Hearts Queen of Clubs) in an attempt to run his short stack up, but unfortunately he ran into the Ace of Hearts Ace of Spades of Jean-Hugo Robitaille to place 12th out of a field of 1439.

Siamak was crippled a few hands ago, as he open-shoved from the button with Ace of Spades 3 of Spades, but ran into the 10 of Spades 10 of Hearts of Jean-Hugo in the blinds. He failed to improve, and saw 1,425,000 chips move to his neighbour, leaving him with only a few thousand behind. He did manage to ladder up one pay jump with the elimination of Fabian Garzon in 13th, but then fell to the hands of Anesti Kocini shortly after.

Both players picked up a $2,070 payday for their run, and with those eliminations, we now have our final table of The Wild $150!

    Garzon goes down in 13th

Fabian Garzon played a very patient game today, however with the continuous pressure of the blinds, it was time for him to pull the trigger and try to make something happen.

He found King of Spades Jack of Clubs on the button in an unopened pot, and fired his last ~1,200,000. Unfortunately for him, Stephane Houle woke up with Ace of Hearts King of Clubs in the big blind and made the call.

Fabian needed help to survive, but found none on the 6 of Spades 10 of Spades 9 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds 6 of Clubs to end his tournament in 13th place, earning $1,690.

    Quirion hits the rail

Denis Quirion couldn’t find any luck when he needed it and was eliminated in 14th place in a slightly untypical hand.

Preflop action folded around to player on the button, John Olivier Pombert, who open shoved, clearly noticing that Denis – in the big blind – was relatively short stacked. Action folded to Denis who reluctantly called and tabled Ace of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds, a hand which figured to be dominated most of the time in that spot.

But not this time. John Olivier turned over Jack of Clubs Queen of Clubs – it had been a pretty speculative steal attempt against a player who didn’t have enough chips to lay down any better hand then Jack Queen…

None of that mattered, though, as the community cards ran out Jack of Spades Queen of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 2 of Spades 7 of Hearts and the bigger stack prevailed.

    14th place, Denis Quirion, $1,690.00

    Aflalo out 15th

Michael Aflalo has had a two day long roller coaster ride. From relatively early in Day 2 all the way until the end of his tournament minutes ago he was exploring the peaks of chip leadership at many stages of the tournament, only to fall back to the pack a little while later. And… repeat.

Michael was finally eliminated from his big blind hand. The player on the button – Stephane Leroux – raised to 500K and Michael hemmed and hawed for a few seconds before raising all in. Stephane made the call, easily as it turns out – he flipped over Ace of Hearts Queen of Hearts compared with Michael’s Ace of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds.

The flop had a little promise in it for Michael: 8 of Spades 8 of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds but the 2 of Hearts and 9 of Spades on the following streets didn’t fulfill the bargain and he was off to the Tournament Desk to pick up his payout coupon.

3 more eliminated before the first break

Play has been quite wild since the start of this Day 3, and there surely has not been a lack of action thus far!

There were three quick eliminated leading up to the first break, as Jean-Bruno Courcelles, Marc Brisson and Kyler Mosier were sent to the rail after getting all their chips in the middle with no luck, collection $1,310 each.

Players are on a short break, and we are currently working on an update on the leaderboard.

    Jason Conforti out 19th

Jason Conforti is a past event winner at Playground Poker Club and entered the day with a healthy stack, but never really seemed to gain any momentum today and eventually lost all his chips to Siamak S, who was sitting directly to his left.

This brought the tournament to 18 players – and immediately after table 36 broke, it’s short-stacked player Marc Brisson was also eliminated in the first hand at his new table. 17 players remain around 2 tables.

Cantin out as Malhotra nearly triples up

Real Cantin was on the shorter end of the spectrum when he moved in with Jack of Diamonds Jack of Spades from early position. Charan Malhotra re-jammed from middle position with Ace of Diamonds Jack of Hearts and a slightly larger stack, before action folded around to Stephane Houle in the big blind. He looked down at King of Hearts King of Spades, and made the quick call to try and eliminate two players.

As the dealer was pulling out the board cards, Charan was chanting for an ace. He didn’t get what he asked for, however he did find a runner-runner straight on the 4 of Hearts 9 of Spades 3 of Clubs 5 of Diamonds 2 of Spades board, which was good enough to earn him a near triple-up.

Real was eliminated in 20th place in the process, cashing $1,130 along the way.

    Gemmill out in 21st

Karyn Gemmill just tangled with Denis Quirion and got the worst of it – and found that Denis covered her by a single T5000 chip.

Denis opened the action preflop with a raise from the hijack and Karyn re-raised from the big blind to around 400K. Denis just called the the dealer laid out the flop: 3 of Spades 4 of Hearts 9 of Spades.

Karyn was first to act and put the rest of her chips in the middle pretty quickly (she was holding just over 500K). Denis didn’t have to think long before pushing forward a stack to indicate a call. He flipped his cards first: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Hearts. Karyn had an uphill climb in front of her but only two cards to come – she was holding Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades.

The dealer put out the 6 of Diamonds on the turn and the unnecessary Jack of Clubs on the river. The stacks were counted out and it turned out that Denis covered Karyn by just that single chip – but it was enough to eliminate her from the tournament.
