Aflalo goes runner-runner; Kocini knocks out Boulay

We just witnessed two huge hands develop in the same time, leading to two eliminations.

On table 39, Maxime Boulay opened from middle position to 155,000, and was followed by Siamak in the hi-jack. Anesti Kocini then 3bet up to 655,000, triggering an all-in from Maxime for 865,000. Siamak hesitated for a few minutes before letting go of his hand, and the two live players tabled their hands.

Maxime: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds

Anesti: King of Clubs King of Hearts

With no help on the Queen of Clubs 8 of Spades 6 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts 10 of Spades board, Maxime made an exit in 22nd place.

On table 40, Michael Aflalo called the early position raise from Fernand Dionne to find themselves heads-up on a 5 of Diamonds Queen of Hearts 2 of Diamonds flop. Fernand checked it over to Michael, who fired 175,000. Fernand made a quick raise up to 450,000, and then called the all-in from Michael, who had the bigger of the two stack with roughly 1,500,000.

Michael tabled 7 of Hearts 8 of Hearts and was in very rough shape versus the Ace of Diamonds Qc of Fernand. The turn however brought the 6 of Diamonds, giving both player some draws, and the river 9 of Clubs complete Michael’s runner-runner straight, who yelled out in excitement. He now sits on a stack just shy of 3-million, while Fernand is in line at the cashiers to collect his prize money.

    Kerwin Carallo out in 24th

Kerwin Carallo limped into the hand from the cutoff, holding a stack of roughly 500,000. Jeremy Normandin completed his small blind, and Alexandre Chapdelaine announced all-in from the big blind. It didn’t take long for Kerwin to commit the rest of his chips, and the two found themselves heads-up as Jeremy tossed his hand into the muck.

Alexandre: Ace of Hearts Jack of Clubs

Kerwin: 9 of Spades 9 of Diamonds

Board: Ace of Clubs 10 of Spades 2 of Hearts 6 of Clubs Queen of Hearts

Alexandre had the bigger of the two stacks, and therefore cleaned out Kerwin, sending him home in 24th place.

St-Laurent, Miron and Leonard next to go

We’ve lost three more players since the redraw, bringing The Wild $150 down to 24 players.

Eric Miron fell to the hands of Siamak, who flopped two pair with Ace of Diamonds 10 of Diamonds on a Ace of Spades 6 of Diamonds 10 of Spades 3 of Clubs 5 of Hearts to increase his stack close to the 3-million mark.

Patrick St-Laurent lost a flip to Kerwin Carallo, as his 7 of Diamonds 7 of Spades were heavily outflopped, and quickly drawing dead to Kerwin’s Ace of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds on a Ace of Clubs Jack of Clubs 9 of Hearts Ace of Hearts 9 of Spades board. He was left with only 2 antes behind, which disappeared the very next hand.

We missed the action, but Pierre Leonard was also recently eliminated, finishing his run in 25th place, good for $860.

Marckenley Bastien started the day with an average stack but found himself short on the button after just over one orbit of the table tonight. He decided to open shove on the button and found a quick fold from the small blind but an equally quick call from the Marcello Iacovella in the big blind.

Marckenley: Ace of Diamonds 9 of Hearts
Marcello: 8 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs

Marcello’s pocket pair held up as the board ran out 4 of Spades 3 of Hearts Queen of Clubs 7 of Hearts 7 of Clubs and Marckenley hit the rail in 28th place ($790).

Tournament staff have just completed a full tournament redraw; we’ll post the new seating chart shortly.

Those were the words voiced by Jason Conforti, as he tabled his hand after calling the all-in of Tanvir Ahmed.

It all started with an open to 130,000 from Jason, sitting under the gun, which was called by Karyn Gemmil from the hi-jack. Tanvir replied with an all-in for 340,000, sending Jason into the tank. After a moment of silence, he slid forward the additional 210,000, and waited for Karyn’s action. She eventually laid down her hand, flashing AJ, leaving the two players to settle this heads-up.

Tanvir tabled the Ace of Spades King of Spades, and was in a good spot to win a 800,000+ pot, as he had Jason’s King of Diamonds Queen of Spades dominated. “The queen is live” said Jason, and just in time it seems, as the board ran in his favour, showing Queen of Hearts 3 of Spades 4 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts.

Jason collected the pot, throwing him over the 1,500,000 mark, as Tanvir took a walk to the cage to collect his $790 cash prize.

While this hand was happening, we lost Dave Pelletier-Bremner on another table, who moved in from the small blind with Ace of Clubs Jack of Hearts, but couldn’t overcome the Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs of Stephane Houle in the big blind. Dave also collected $790 for his deep run.

One more elimination before we have a redraw for the final 3 tables.

Alexandre Tribout is the first casualty of the day, and the tournament is now down to 30 players. Alexandre started with only 210,000 chips (4bb) and collected $720 for his efforts in the tournament.

There is a full redraw scheduled for when 27 players remain and the tournament is reduced from 4 tables to 3. This redraw is likely to come very soon as there were several very short-stacked players to start the day.

The players on table 35 will likely welcome the redraw, as the top 3 stacks are all playing on the same table to start the night, as well as two additional players who started with top-10 stacks.

    Day 3: 31 players remain

    2015/11/05 - 17:54 by

The Wild $150 shifts to Day 3, the final day of the event, and by the end of the action tonight we’re sure to have a winner in the first event of the 2015 Playground Poker Fall Classic presented by Partypoker.net. As mentioned in the title, there are 31 players left competing for over $144K in the prize pool that remains, including an impressive $34K slated for the winner!

The chip leader going in to Day 3 is Anesti Kocini, who is playing a 51bb stack and is 865,000 chips ahead of the second-place player, Scott Shelvock. His lead is just a hair under the average stack in the tournament – which is to say that Anesti is in a very strong position to start the day.

In third place to start the day is another very capable player, Siamak S, who starts with 1,660,000 chips (33bb). Primarily a cash game player, Siamak has nevertheless had a lot of success in the past at Playground Poker Club tournaments and brings a lot of late-tourney experience to the table.

In fact, looking over the field, for a tournament at a $150 buy-in, the remaining players include some very accomplished and experienced poker players. Just in terms of players who have won or gone deep in past events at Playground Poker Club, you can look at Jason Conforti, Michael Aflalo, Karyn Gemmill, Said Michailidis, Fabian Garzon, Charan Malhotra, and Tanvir Ahmed who are all still in the field. A dark horse to start the day is Marcello Iacovella, who starts with a small stack but has proven time and again to have some talent for the game… so you never know…

Good luck to everyone playing Day 3. With a chip average near the 20K mark and at least 6 or 7 short stacks the action is sure to take off quickly once play restarts at 7pm tonight!
