    Deron Noksana out 11th

There are just 10 players remaining in Event 5 as Deron Noksana, who had been nursing a tiny stack for hours, was finally eliminated in 11th place.

By the time of his elimination hand he only had 57K in chips – just over 3bb – and although he had waited for a hand – he flipped over Ace of Hearts Jack of Clubs – he also learned the dangers of making it profitable for a player to call with any two cards. In this case, Gameboy (aka Vi Thanh Tony To) shrugged and called with 2 of Spades 3 of Spades.

The board runout was no good for Deron: 3 of Clubs 6 of Hearts 10 of Spades 2 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds for treys up and he was out in 11th.

    11th place, Deron Noksana, $3,600

Next to go: Kazarian and Loukanikas

Players continue to be eliminated quickly as Bill Loukanikas and George Kazarian were both eliminated within just minutes of one another in 12th and 13th place.

First to go was George. Sammy Popatia opened the action to 25K and if folded around to George, who went all in for his remaining chips. Sammy quickly called and the cards were turned over:

George: 6 of Hearts 7 of Hearts
Sammy: 7 of Diamonds 7 of Spades.

The community cards kept the best hand in the lead: 5 of Spades 3 of Spades Jack of Spades 9 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds and Sammy stacked the chips.

Just a couple of minutes later, on a board reading 8 of Diamonds 3 of Diamonds 10 of Spades 4 of Hearts, Bill got it in on the good side of things holding 4 of Clubs 3 of Hearts. Tran couldn’t resist making the call with Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts and just like that a 10 of Clubs was dealt to pair the board and just like that, Bill was out.

    13th place: George Kazarian, $2,960

    Routhier out 14th

Pierre Routhier had been nursing a small stack for some time but doing it with skill and good timing, picking up enough blinds and antes to stay above water for at least the last few levels. However, his good timing had to end, and so it did at the hands of Tony To, who eliminated Pierre in 14th place.

Tony open-limped, fully aware that both the bb and sb were very short-stacked, and found a call from Pierre in the sb and a check from George Kazarian in the bb.

The flop was dealt: 8 of Clubs 9 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds

Pierre pulled a stop-and-go and pushed his last 60K or so into the middle. George folded, but Tony wasn’t going anywhere: he instantly called.

Pierre: 10 of Diamonds 9 of Spades
Tony: Jack of Clubs 10 of Clubs

Tony had flopped the straight with redraws available to the straight flush. The 4 of Spades Ace of Spades changed nothing and Pierre made his way to the Tournament Desk to receive his payout coupon.

    14th place, Pierre Routhier, $2,960

As soon as the redraw was complete there were 2 more eliminations – Marko X and Charle-Alexandre Bergeron. This brings the tournament to the money bubble and play will be hand-for-hand until the next player is eliminated.

After about 6 hands of hand-for-hand action, Mark Stairs was eliminated in 25th place and the remaining 24 players are all in the money! Congratulations!
