Event 7 Champion: Anthony Robert Diotte

2015/11/12 - 2:50 by Playground Poker

Event 7 Champion: Anthony Robert Diotte

After a deal was made with 4 players left, Anthony Robert Diotte seemed to have either switched gears, or turned ‘god-mode’ on, as he quickly eliminated opponents Ivan Fazal Karim and Daniel Andelman before finding himself heads-up with a healthy chip lead over Andrej Markovinovic.

Heads-up play only last around 20 minutes, and although Andrej put up a fight, he eventually found all of his chips in the middle with the second best hand. Anthony opened with a raise to 125,000 from the button, and called the 1,100,000 chip all-in from Andrej.

Anthony: Ace of Spades 8 of Clubs
Andrej: Ace of Hearts 2 of Diamonds

Andrej wasn’t able to improve on the King of Spades 3 of Clubs 5d Jack of Clubs 9 of Diamonds board, ending his deep run in 2nd place. He was the chip leader when the deal was made, and has already secured himself a cool $17,205, while Anthony added $3,000 to his already locked-in $14,515.

Congratulations!

    3rd place: Daniel Andelman

Daniel Andelman built a massive stack mid-way through the tournament, and it helped carry him into the top 4, where he secured himself over $12K in a 4-way deal. He fell short stack after the deal was struck, and when he was faced with an all-in from Anthony, he called off his stack with two picture cards.

Anthony: King of Hearts 5 of Spades
Daniel: Queen of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

They both paired the flop, but Anthony got the bigger piece on the Jack of Hearts King of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs 4 of Spades board to bring Event 7 down to heads-up.

Anthony currently has a 3-to-1 chip advantage versus heads-up opponent Andrej.

Ivan opened his game up a little after the deal was made, however his bluff attempt with bottom-pair was hero called by Anthony and his middle-pair. He was left with 400,000 behind, and min-raised the very next hand. Anthony 3bet, and called the 4bet all-in to find himself in a flip.

Anthony: Ace of Spades Jack of Diamonds
Ivan: 5 of Clubs 5 of Spades

Ivan was poised to double up until the river paired Anthony on a 9 of Spades 2 of Spades 9 of Hearts 3 of Diamonds Jack of Hearts board. Anthony now holds more than half the chips in play.

Moments after losing half of his stack to Daniel Andelman the hand before, Frederick Mowatt announced an all-in from under the gun for 295,000. Ivan Fazal Karim meticulously cut out calling chips and slowly slid them forward next to act, and the rest of the table got out of the way.

Frederick: Queen of Diamonds 10 of Clubs

Ivan: Ace of Hearts Ace of Clubs

Frederick almost made a flush to win the hand, but inevitably fell short to place in 5th, as the board read 4 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds 5 of Spades.

Andrej: Queen of Hearts Jack of Spades

Richard: 4 of Spades 4 of Diamonds

Anthony Robert Diotte has just taken over the chip lead of this final table, doubling through former chip leader Andrej Markovinovic.

Anothony raised to 75,000 from the button, and then called the 3bet all-in from Andrej in the big blind.

Anthony: 10 of Hearts 10 of Diamonds
Andrej: 7 of Spades 8 of Spades

Andrej needed a lot of help if he wanted to win this one, and the 2 of Diamonds King of Diamonds Ace of Hearts Jack of Clubs Jack of Hearts board was not the one he was looking for. Anthony slid forward his stack, and Andrej payed out 550,000, bringing his stack down to around 1.1 million.
