WPT Montreal Day 1a – final counts

2015/11/13 - 23:13 by

Day 1a of the Partypoker.net WPT Montreal began at 11am on November 13th and played through 10 60-minute levels before play was suspended as scheduled. There were 127 total entries today and of those, 45 players still had a stack at the end of the evening and bagged up their chips to return on Day 2.

This is a next-day re-entry event, meaning that any player – qualified for Day 2 or not – may choose to play in one or both of the remaining starting flights. Of course any player who has not already qualified for Day 2 may also play one or both remaining starting days as well. In the event that a player qualifies twice (or 3 times), only their largest single-day stack will be returned to action in Day 2. Playground Poker Club will report on any such variance along with the full seating draw for Day 2.

The following are player-provided counts and although we do our utmost to verify that players are reporting their precise count, it’s the physical chips sealed in their bags which are returned to play on Day 2.

Day 1b begins on Saturday November 14th at 11am, Day 1c begins on Sunday November 15th at 11am, and Day 2 begins on Monday November 16th at 12pm.

Congratulations to everyone who has qualified for Day 2.

There is a break after every 2 hours today and the players have just returned from their first such break, during which we added a couple of names to our new “Live” Chip counts page. You can follow along (as our resources for counting permit) by clicking on the link with the black background on the upper right of any page on the blog.

Before and after the first break, players have continued to join the field. Some of them are household names (in poker-playing households, anyhow) and others – possibly – soon-to-be household names:

    • Freddy Deeb
    • Kevin MacPhee
    • Will Failla
    • Samuel Chartier
    • Brian Yoon
    • Ami Alibay

Welcome to the tournament and good luck!

Some early photos of the WPT Day 1a

Registration is building at a steady rate and play is well underway with almost 2 levels completed and already 5 players who have busted from the event. Remember, players who are eliminated early today may NOT re-enter today, but they MAY re-enter on Day 1b and/or Day 1c.

Here are a few photos of the action early in Day 1a of the 2015 WPT Montreal.
