    Just now on table 23 a player was all-in for about 45K and the next player to act, Will Molson, folded. Next up was Ron Farber, a well-known and well liked local cash game player who raised all-in, presumably to isolate. The thing is – his all-in raise was for something north of 175bb… and the next player to act, Jeffrey Mulder, actually had a hand. He was perfectly exasperated by the whole situation, until he (correctly, it turns out) assessed his spot and made a hesitant fold.

    The other player in the hand folded and the cards were flipped over – the all-in player was playing Ace of Clubs King of Diamonds while Ron had Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts. Jeff had folded pocket JJ. And while Jeff made the correct decision, it just twisted the exasperation knife a bit when the river came J, which of course the poker deity was sure to make happen…

    Here are a few of the interesting tables we’ll be watching as the day progresses:

    • Table 54 – features Jeff Madsen, Mike Leah, and Carter Swidler, and also local player Jason Conforti who recently won the $1,650 Second Chance event here in the Playground Poker Spring Classic earlier this year.
    • Table 59 – features Antonio Esfandiari and Jonathan Duhamel, certainly the most well-known players in the field, and also Erwann Pecheux, one of the top players to come out of France in recent years.
    • Table 27 – this is the table that Marc André Ladouceur is starting on today, but he’s joined by Brian Yoon, Kevin MacDonald, and Andy Frankenberger. The name that may seem out of place of those four is Kevin MacDonald, but he has had great success here in the past.

    Overall, 33 players have already been eliminated, including two particularly talented local players, Benoit Jean and Said Michailidis.

    Today is Day 2 of the Partypoker.net WPT Montreal, and the 292 players who qualified are spread out around the 33 tables in action to start the day. The TD has just made his announcements for the day – play is 9-handed, the tournament will play through 9 levels today, and there’s a dinner break after level 16 – and with that, cards are in the air.

    The field in this Day 2 is a pretty star-studded affair, with well-known players like Freddy Deeb, Will Molson, and Brian Altman all near the top of the standings.

    During the early part of the day we’re going to profile a few of the particularly interesting tables in the event, all the while keeping track of what are sure to be a raft of early eliminations.

    WPT Montreal Day 2 Seating Draw (with counts)

    This is the official seating chart for Day 2 of the Partypoker.net WPT Montreal, Event 9 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic.

    There were 3 starting flights in this tournament and a total of 697 entries. 292 players qualified for Day 2. Two players qualified through more than one starting flight: Dean Murphy (T100,000 and T20,000); and Tom Thomas (T42,200 and T33,100). The smaller of each player’s qualifying stacks have been removed from the tournament.

    Play resumes in level 11 at 12pm on Monday November 16th. When the tournament resumes, play will be 9-handed, and play on Day 2 will continue for 9 levels.

    Note that these are player-recorded chip count totals. The actual chips have been sealed in bags which will be opened by the players to be returned to play on Day 2.
