Pre-dinner Photo Set
Day 1A of the WPT Montreal is well into level 6, and there will be a 45-minute dinner break following the completion of this level. The end of this break will coincide with the closing of the registration period for this first of three starting flights, and players therefore have until around 6:20pm if they wish to jump in.

A few recent additions
There is a break after every 2 hours today and the players have just returned from their first such break, during which we added a couple of names to our new “Live” Chip counts page. You can follow along (as our resources for counting permit) by clicking on the link with the black background on the upper right of any page on the blog.
Before and after the first break, players have continued to join the field. Some of them are household names (in poker-playing households, anyhow) and others – possibly – soon-to-be household names:
- Freddy Deeb
- Kevin MacPhee
- Will Failla
- Samuel Chartier
- Brian Yoon
- Ami Alibay
Welcome to the tournament and good luck!
Some early photos of the WPT Day 1a
Registration is building at a steady rate and play is well underway with almost 2 levels completed and already 5 players who have busted from the event. Remember, players who are eliminated early today may NOT re-enter today, but they MAY re-enter on Day 1b and/or Day 1c.
Here are a few photos of the action early in Day 1a of the 2015 WPT Montreal.
Some early birds in Day 1a
Early in Day 1a of a multi-day poker tournament is never the busiest time in the event, but there are players who like to get at it as soon as they can, pros and amateurs alike.
The early registrants in today’s WPT starting flight include some of the biggest names in the world of poker:
- Michael McDonald
- Darren Elias
- Mike Leah
- TJ Ulmer
- Yann Dion
- Carter Swidler
- Eric Afriat
- Dylan Wilkerson
- Marco Caza
- George Caragiorgas
As well, one of Montreal’s biggest names from outside the poker world is also at the tables – hockey legend Guy Carbonneau is here!
Welcome to the WPT Montreal!
Today is Day 13 of the Playground Poker Fall Classic, and it’s a very big day: it’s also Day 1a of the Partypoker.net WPT Montreal!
This is the 4th WPT Montreal we’ve hosted here at Playground Poker Club (in addition to 3 other WPT events in the Spring), and if past events are any indication, this is certain to be one of the great events of the poker year.
Each of the 3 Day 1s will play through 10 60-minute levels before the players who survive the day bag up their chips to return for Day 2 on Monday, November 16th. Late registration in the tournament is available until the end of the dinner break following level 6. In other words, players may enter the event any time until 6:15pm on any Day 1.
Mike Sexton, Vince Van Patten and the Royal Flush Girls just helped us to get the event started on the right foot, as Mike delivered the most famous words in poker: Dealers, shuffle up and deal” – and with that, the event is underway.
