Event 2 – Results & Payouts

2015/11/06 - 9:53 by

Event 2 of the 2015 Playground Poker Fall Classic presented by Partypoker.net was a $200 + $20 one-day tournament that began on November 5th, 2015. The event attracted a total of 168 entries, which added up to a prize pool of $32,592.00. This prize pool was distributed according to the following payout table.

Note that a player deal was reached with 6 players remaining. $650 and the Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy were reserved for the eventual champion, and the rest of the remaining prize pool was distributed according to stack sizes at the time of the deal plus negotiated modifications to the raw chip chop numbers. Play continued after the deal, so the ranking reflects the actual order of finish while the payouts reflect the negotiated prizes.

Event: Event 2 - $200 + $20 NL Hold'em Freeze

Event 2 Champion: Steven Saab

2015/11/06 - 5:13 by Playground Poker

Event 2 Champion: Steven Saab

After a 6-way deal on the final table, where the prize pool was distributed based on chip counts at the time, the dynamics of Event 2 changed drastically. With only an additional $650 left up top for the eventual winner, and of course the Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy, players all of a sudden had a lot more gamble in them.

We saw two quick eliminations happen in the minutes following the deal, leaving action 4-handed. Eleuterio Guedes was the next to go, followed by former chip leader Yan Nadeau, who pocketed the most for this event.

Steven Saab was left heads-up and with the chip lead versus Hugo Theotol, and after only a few hands they found themselves flipping for stacks. Steven’s 7 of Spades 7 of Clubs were racing the Jack of Clubs 9 of Spades of Hugo, but it was all but over by the turn on a board showing 5 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds 2 of Clubs 7 of Hearts 8 of Spades.

Steven collected $3,600 from the deal, plus an additional $650 for the win, and also took home the Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy for Event 2, while Hugo took home $5,000 with his share of the deal.

Congratulations!

When play dropped to the 6 final players, they paused the clock to negotiate a deal. The tournament rules require 2% of the total prize pool to be reserved for the eventual champion in the event a chop takes place, so $650 was left up top for the winner, who will also take home a Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy.

Based on the chip counts, and with further negotiations, the players finally settled on some numbers they can all agree on. Here is what they all locked in:

    • Yan Nadeau: $7,000
    • Hugo Theotol: $5,000
    • Steven Saab: $3,600
    • Eleuterio Guedes: $3,310
    • Francesco Presta: $3,210
    • Ronald Lebel: $2,720

H H found himself in a tough spot, as he was all-in for his last few big blinds versus the two big stacks on the table, Hugo Thetol and Yan Nadeau. Both players checked all 3 streets on a board of 7 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts Jack of Clubs 5 of Diamonds Ace of Spades, and players tabled their hands.

HH: King of Hearts 10 of Hearts
Hugo: 4 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds
Yan: Queen of Clubs Queen of Spades

Yan’s pair of queens were the best hand, and he added a chunk of change to his chip leading stack.

    7th place: HH – $1,370

The blinds were taking a toll on Claudemir De Oliveira, who saw his stack drop to under 5 big blinds. In an unopened pot, he moved in from the cutoff, and was called by Yan Nadeau in the big blind.

Claudemir: Queen of Spades 9 of Hearts

Yan: Queen of Hearts 10 of Hearts

Although Claudemir paired the flop, he lost to Yan’s straight on the King of Diamonds 5 of Diamonds 9 of Spades Jack of Diamonds Ace of Hearts to place 8th.

Simon Blais was cripple at the beginning of this final table, as his Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds lost to Francesco Presta’s King of Clubs Jack of Hearts, who made broadway on the river. Simon managed to run it back up a little, in the mean time jumping up the money ladder, but was recently eliminated in a hand where he found himself all-in preflop versus Steven Saab.

Simon: Ace of Clubs 5 of Clubs

Action folded around to Hugo Theotol on the button, who threw in some raising chips. Mikael Abittan moved all-in from the small blind, holding only 107,000, and was called by Hugo.

Mikael: Ace of Spades 10 of Diamonds

Hugo: King of Spades King of Clubs

Mikael needed some help, but missed on the 7 of Clubs Queen of Spades Jack of Clubs 8 of Spades 6 of Hearts board to finish in 10th place, while Hugo added some chips to his big stack.

Yan Nadeau was already the chip leader on the bubble when called the 3bet shove from Michael Korovine, who was also amongst the big stacks.

Yan tabled 9 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds, and was flipping versus the Ace of Clubs King of Spades of Michael. The board was safe for Yan, showing 2 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 4 of Hearts 10 of Clubs 3 of Diamonds, and he added another 200,000 to his stack, bringing him above the 700,000 mark.
