Today’s noon tourney – Event 4, a $100 + $10 NL Hold’em Deepstack Turbo – is both the most affordable tournament in this year’s Fall Classic lineup AND likely to be one of the most fun events on the schedule as well.
The Deepstack Turbo format is one of the most beloved tournament formats ever run here at Playground Poker Club. Ever since we first opened our doors in 2010, this format has been a mainstay of the weekly tournament schedule and it still represents the backbone of our daytime schedule as well as being the format of both weekend daytime tournaments.
About the name: it’s called “Deepstack” because players start with 25K in chips, and “Turbo” because blinds are just 15 minutes long. This makes for an explosive combination in which players find themselves in critical situations from the very beginning of the tournament. Players must keep their wits about them for the entire length of of the tourney to make it deep – no “coasting” allowed!
