Day 2 of The Wild $150 has come to a close, and 27 players have survived through 26 total levels of play to finally bag and tag their chips onto Day 3. Through 4 starting flights, this opening event of the Playground Poker Fall Classic attracted a total of 1,198 entries combining to a prize pool of $156,878.00. Once the time ran out in the 12 levels of play of Day 2, the field was reduced to just 3 final tables.

Leading the way is Sebastien Proulx, who amassed an astonishing 2,425,000 chip stack, and is the only player above the 2 million chip mark. A few other players bagged 7-figure stacks, while 6 players return tomorrow with under 10bb to their names. Below are the full player-reported chip counts from the end of Day 2, and we will shortly publish the new seating assignments for Day 3.

The tournament concludes with Day 3 tomorrow, Thursday November 3rd, at 7pm – and will play down until a champion is crowned. Along with the cool $28,000 top prize, the winner will also take home a sweet Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy.

See you tomorrow!

Yan Nadeau sends Leng Khauv home on a bad beat

If there is one thing that poker players have nightmares about, it’s going out of a Day 2 in the manner that Leng Khauv just experienced. When we got to the table, the 4 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs was already down, and around 500K was in the middle. Yan Nadeau had placed a 225K bet on that flop. Leng was in the tank, and finally shipped around 650K, which was called instantaneously by Yan.

Leng tabled Ace of Spades 10 of Spades, and was horrified when he saw Yan’s 4 of Spades 2 of Hearts. The board completed with the 7 of Diamonds and the Queen of Clubs. About 1.8M was pushed Yan’s way, as Leng stood idly by, looking around as if to find a way to go about the rest of his day.

We could think of no other preflop scenario than Leng raising his suited ace from the cutoff, and Yan trying to steal it from the small blind by 3-betting big, then continuation betting on a dream flop.

Keap your head up Leng, it’s hard to see these things coming. Congratulations on a good run!

Yan Nadeau takes a montrous stack to Day 3, as you will be able to see in the upcoming complete counts.

750K pot taken away from ex-leader Garry Antonio

Blinds are now 10K-20K, and Thomas Caissie limped in from an early position. Garry Antonio probably thought this was just asking to be taken advantage of, and placed a 62K raise. After everyone folded, Thomas made the call. When the flop came 2 of Hearts Jack of Hearts 6 of Diamonds, Thomas Caissie decided to lead with a bet of 50K, which was quickly called by Garry. The Queen of Spades turn did not make Thomas back down, and he fired 100K into the pot, which was called almost as quickly by Garry. The river was a low non-heart card, and this time Thomas checked. Garry thought he could steal this pot, possibly because no third heart came up, and bet 150K. Thomas tanked for a little while, then called the bet and immediately showed Queen of Hearts 10 of Hearts. Garry impassively mucked his hand, and looked at the sizable pot being pushed over to Thomas Caissie.

Although the action was not particularly heavy in this hand relatively to the blinds, the resulting pot was very relevant, mounting up to more than the average stack. This is why deep tournament action is not for the faint of heart – one misstep can destroy the result of many hours of work.

The last break has just passed us here in Day 2 of The Wild $150, and the field is now only 57-players large. A few players are cruising comfortably with over 1-million in chips, while others are on a serious grind as the big payouts slowly approach.

Players have 4 more levels left before going on break for Day 3, and we can expect the field to shrink considerably before bagging. Below are the top counts during this last break of the night:

Only 63 players remain from the 1,198 player field in The Wild $150, and two players in particular have a stranglehold lead over the rest of the field. Both Fadi Haddad and Jason Conforti have build stacks upwards of 1-million chips, more than tripling the current average stack. In a few short minutes the remaining players will go on their last break of the night, and during this time we will put together an updated leaderboard.

When faced with a late position open of 20K from Ian Tang, Karim-Olivier Kamal put his opponent to the test from the big blind by 3-betting all-in. Ian, who started the hand with roughly 200K, moved into the tank. Given the history of the last few orbits, Ian knew his opponent is most likely putting pressure on him due to hand-for-hand play, and couldn’t resist the opportunity to build a monster stack leading into the money. After some deliberation he finally made the call.

Karim-Olivier and Ian shared a laugh when hands were tabled, and Ian’s read was indeed correct as Karim-Olivier tabled a mere King of Hearts 6 of Spades. Ian still needed some help though, as he tabled Queen of Spades Jack of Spades, and they were virtually flipping for a 50bb pot.

The 5 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts 7 of Spades flop was rather bleak for Ian, and the running 10 of Clubs and 4 of Hearts brought no further help to the at risk player, who was finally eliminated one spot shy of the money.

The rest of the room shared some excitement as they were now guaranteed a cash prize.

Congratulations to the players who have secured themselves a payday here in The Wild $150!

4 levels have passed, and already more than half the players were taken out – 126 of them are left. Players are taking their first break, catching their breaths after all the heavy chip movement they endured or enjoyed. And they do need to regroup, as the bubble will be on us very soon(9 eliminations away), and that is a stressful time for everyone but the chip leader! Speaking of which, our current driver is Gary Antonio, sitting behind a very nice 755K stack. Below is a list of the top 25 stacks during the break.

Notable eliminations so far include the likes of Laurent Kochenburger, Rodney Ramalho, Tommy Coulombe, Richard Fiegel, Rami Hammoud and Ruben Perceval, amongst others.

Day 2 of The Wild $150 has kicked off in an action-packed manner, as over 80 players have been sent to the rail through the first 2 levels of play.

Leng Khauv has certainly had the best start to Day 2, as he nearly doubled his 277,000 starting stack and is now the only player above the 1/2 million chip mark. His 525,000 stack is over 140,000 bigger that second in chips John Palmer, putting him in the driver seat with 180 players left.

Here is a look at the top 15 stacks at the start of level 17. There will be a short break in 2-levels time, during which we will update the leaderboard once again.
