Event 12 Champion: Mohamad Tareg

2016/11/16 - 2:09 by Playground Poker

Event 12 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic was the increasingly popular 50/50 Bounty Event priced at $500 + $100 + $500, where a $500 bounty chip was awarded every time a player was eliminated. A total of 205 players turned out for this one-day event, and after nearly 15 hours of poker, only one man was left standing – Mohamad Tareg.

Mohamad build himself a big stack early in the game, and managed to maintain a top stack through until the very end of the tournament. With already 9 bounty chips to his name at the start of the final table, Mohamad went on to eliminate 7 of his 9 final table adversaries to finish with an massive 17 bounty chips, totalling $8,500 in additional prizes.

When heads-up play began versus Richard Edwin Mask, Mohamad held a 5-to-1 chip lead and began leaning on his opponent. After several orbits, he opened his button to 90K, and called off the 500K all-in of Richard. He tabled Ace of Diamonds 5 of Hearts, and although he was trailing the Queen of Spades Queen of Clubs of Richard, he seemed very confident he was going to win the hand. “The ace always comes” he added, as the dealer started pulling out the community cards. The 9 of Clubs King of Spades 5 of Clubs flop helped him a little, pairing his 5, but the King of Clubs turn removed one of his outs. Surely enough, as if it was written in the sky, the dealer peeled the Ace of Hearts on the river, sealing the victory for Mohamad.

With no deals made on the final table, he collected the $24,450 top cash prize, and with his 17 bounty chips his final score was of $32,950. He was awarded a sweet Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy for his first place finish.

Congratulations!

With around 800K on the button, Chris Arvanitis looked down at 7 of Diamonds 7 of Clubs and threw in his bounty chip. Mohamad Tareg made the call with 9 of Clubs 9 of Diamonds from the small blind, and Richard folded his big blind.

The dealer rung out a 3 of Spades 8 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds Jack of Hearts 6 of Clubs board, thus ending Chris’ run in 3rd place.

Mohamad Tareg opened to 75K from utg, and Jonathan Roy 3bet all-in from the small blind for around 500K. Chris folded his big blind, and Mohamad tanked for a quick moment before making the call.

Mohamad: 6 of Hearts 6 of Clubs
Jonathan: 2 of Hearts 2 of Clubs

Mahamad’s pair of 6s remained unharmed on the 9 of Clubs Queen of Spades 10 of Hearts 5 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds board to earn another bounty, all the while eliminating a very dangerous player from the field.

The final 3 are now secured a 5-figure cash, not including their bounty earnings.

Jonathan Cameron returned from the break as the short stack, holding a little over 5bb. He folded the first few hands, and once he was in the big blind position, he was faced with a utg open from Mohamad Tareg and picked up a hand worth getting it in with. Unfortunately for him, his King of Spades 9 of Hearts was dominated by the Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds of Mohamad, who inevitably won the hand and added yet another bounty to his collection.

5th place: Jonathan Cameron – $4,790.00

Shawn Daigle was eliminated from this final table in a two-part process, where both blows were delivered by Richard Edwin Mask.

On the first hand, Shawn 3bet from the blinds facing an open from Richard, and unloaded the clip on the flop and turn. When all was said and done, Richard was scooping a 1.1 million chip pot with King of Hearts Jack of Hearts over 9 of Hearts 9 of Clubs with the board showing 8 of Hearts King of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds 3 of Hearts Ace of Clubs.

With a little over 200K behind, Shawn opened shortly after but folded to the 3bet shove of Jonathan Roy. On the next hand he open-shipped his roughly 7bb stack from early position, and Richard made the call to go heads-up. Shawn tabled Queen of Clubs 7 of Clubs, and couldn’t improve against 10 of Clubs 10 of Hearts on a Jack of Spades 9 of Spades 8 of Spades 8 of Hearts 5 of Hearts board.

6th place: Shawn Daigle – $3,960.00

Matthew Harris moved in his last 88K from middle position, and Mohamad Tareg completed the bet from the small blind, as did Richard Edwin Mask from the big blind.

With 5 of Hearts 8 of Hearts 8 of Clubs showing, Mohamad check-called Richard’s 60K bet. He then lead out with an all-in once the 6 of Spades dropped on the turn, forcing Richard out of the hand. With no more action possible, Mohamad tabled King of Hearts 6 of Clubs, and was ahead of the Ace of Diamonds 4 of Hearts of Matthew. The river Queen of Clubs brought no change, and Mohamad added another $500 bounty chip to his stack. He nows holds 2 million in chips.

7th place: Matthew Harris – $3,380.00

Tareg knocks Lemarquand and Israel out

Erik Lemarquand opened to 40K from utg +1, and Eli Israel moved all-in for 201K from the hijack. Mohamad Tareg didn’t seem to notice the all-in, and threw in around 135K from the big blind – thinking he was raising Erik’s original open. Once informed that Eli was all-in, he tossed in a few more chips to complete the 201K bet. Action returned to Erik, and he announced he was all-in for just about 675K total. Mohamad moved into the tank, and after cutting down his own stack (which was the biggest of the three), he finally threw in a bounty chip to signify a call.

Erik turned over Ace of Diamonds King of Clubs, and Eli tabled Queen of Diamonds Jack of Clubs. Mohamad then tabled his hand – 4 of Clubs 4 of Spades – which seemed to have surprised most players at the table, notably Erik. Nevertheless, Mohamad spiked a set in the window card as the board read 4 of Hearts 9 of Hearts 8 of Clubs 9 of Spades 7 of Hearts, and he collected the pot of over 1.6 million – putting him well in charge on this final table.

Eli was awarded 9th place, and Erik took 8th as he had the bigger of the two eliminated stacks.

8th place: Erik Lemarquand – $2,910.00
9th place: Eli Israel – $2,440.00

Steven: Ace of Clubs 9 of Clubs
Jonathan: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Clubs

Steven was looking for a 9 or some clubs to survive the hand, but neither turned up on the King of Diamonds Ace of Spades 7 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds Ace of Hearts board, ending his run in 10th place.

10th place: Steven Buckner – $2,120.00
