Second Chance Champion: Christopher Fisher

2016/11/17 - 22:04 by

When the deal was made 3-way, Christopher Fisher and Ted Doukas were both relatively short compared with Jordan Saccucci – but when Jordan went out in 3rd, Chris picked up most of those chips. When heads up play began, Chris enjoyed a 3-1 chip advantage.

Play continued for a little time before what looked to be a definitive all in showdown that pitted Chris’ Ace of Diamonds 4 of Spades against Ted’s dominated King of Clubs 4 of Hearts. The King of Diamonds on the river brought Ted from behind, however, and play continued.

A few hands later there was another all in and call, and once again Ted was dominated: Ace of Spades 5 of Hearts against Chris’ Ace of Clubs 6 of Diamonds. Once again, though, the deck had other ideas and Ted hit his 5 of Diamonds on the flop and won the hand – and this time it was significant, the two players were now almost even in chips.

What could have become a very drawn out affair, however, did not as both players were by then extremely tired and neither seemed particularly excited/disappointed to be at parity. Consequently, on the very next hand Ted shoved all in with King of Diamonds 6 of Clubs and found a quick call from Chris, holding just 10 of Spades 7 of Spades. Again, the cards spoke:

7 of Hearts Jack of Clubs 7 of Clubs King of Spades 6 of Diamonds

Chris had won the hand, and when the stacks were counted down, he had won the tournament as well. Congratulations!

Saccucci out 3rd

2016/11/17 - 21:44 by

As soon as the deal was made, Jordan started to play hyper-aggressively, trying to pick off his opponents with marginal hands – but not too worried about the outcome because of the $43,150.00 that he had already locked in.

He wasn’t able to take either player out, and very quickly he was short stacked himself and all in with 7 of Spades 9 of Spades against Chris Fisher’s Queen of Spades Jack of Hearts. Nothing was final until the river, but the community cards 3 of Hearts 5 of Hearts 3 of Diamonds 10 of Spades Jack of Diamonds ended up on Chris’ favour and Jordan was off to the tournament desk to pick up his payout coupon.

3rd place: Jordan Saccucci, $43,150.00

Once play fell 3-handed in the Second Chance Event, the players paused the clock to see if they can negotiate a deal. They asked for ICM counts, and after some back and forth they finally agreed to the numbers.

The tournament requires $4,000 to be left aside for the eventual winner, who will also take home the Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy. The rest of the prize-pool was divided as follows:

  • Jordan Saccucci – $43,150.00
  • Christopher Fisher – $33,295.00
  • Theodore Doukas – $31,000.00

Congratulations on your winnings!

We missed the elimination, but for what was told to us action folded around to Christopher Fisher in the small blind, who looked over at short-stacked Kenneth Lindgren in the big blind before moving all-in. Kenneth made the call with under 10bb, and tabled Qx 9x – only to find out Christopher had him dominated with Qx Jx. Christopher paired his jack on the board and sent Kenneth home in 4th place, bringing the field down to just 3 players.

Since eliminating Francois Bergeron in 6th place, Jordan Saccucci has been on a bit of a tear, picking up pot after pot. His stack now nears the 2-million chip mark, and he owns close to 60% of the chips in play in 4-handed action.

Paul Petten moved his 266K stack in from under the gun, and Theodore Doukas threw in a calling chip from the button as the blinds got out of the way.

Paul: Ace of Spades 2 of Spades
Theodore: 7 of Clubs 7 of Diamonds

Paul connected with the King of Clubs 2 of Clubs 5 of Hearts 6 of Clubs 9 of Hearts board, but not hard enough to win the pot, and was eliminated in 5th place from this Second Chance tournament.

Action folded around to Jordan Saccucci in cutoff and he threw in a raise to 50K. Francois Bergeron, sitting in the big blind, moved all-in for 440K, and without too much hesitation Jordan made the call.

Jordan: 5 of Spades 5 of Diamonds
Francois: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Clubs

Jordan flopped a set to win the almost 7-figure chip pot as the board read 5 of Clubs 7 of Spades Ace of Hearts 2 of Hearts 9 of Diamonds, and Francois left the table a little flustered, having been the chip leader not that long ago. Jordan now holds around 1.1 million, good for the chip lead.

6th place: Francois Bergeron – $8,240.00

Terry Flood limped into the pot from late position, and Jordan Saccucci made it 100K to go from the big blind. Terry obliged, and the dealer brought out a 3 of Hearts 8 of Diamonds 10 of Spades flop. Jordan slid forward 75K, which was enough to put Terry all-in, and Terry made the call with King of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds. Jordan showed down Ace of Clubs Jack of Clubs, and his ace-high held for the win as the turn 5 of Spades and river 3 of Clubs brought no help to the at-risk player.

7th place: Terry Flood – $7,160.00

2016/11/17 - 18:09 by Playground Poker

Francois Bergeron has taken over the chip lead in the last few orbits, and currently holds nearly 900K in chips.

A portion of his newly acquired chips came from a hand versus Theodore Doukas not too long ago. Francois opened preflop to 34K from early position, and called Theodore’s 3bet to 85K. On a Ace of Clubs 2 of Diamonds King of Diamonds flop, Francois check-raised a 52K bet up to 125K. Both players checked the 5 of Spades turn as well as the 10 of Clubs river, and Francois tabled 10 of Diamonds 10 of Spades for a rivered set of tens. Theodore did not seem impressed with the hand, and muttered some words to himself while mucking his hand.

Christopher Fisher placed a raise to 34K from middle position, and Marton Szlavy moved all-in for 158K from the big blind. Christopher made the quick call and hands were tabled.

Marton held Queen of Clubs Queen of Diamonds and was mathematically ahead of Christopher’s Ace of Hearts King of Spades, until the Ace of Spades 3 of Diamonds 7 of Clubs 8 of Hearts King of Hearts board was revealed.

8th place: Marton Szlavy – $6,280.00
