The players in the Second Chance have taken a break and we have taken counts for all 9 players that remain in the tournament. The recent stint of play has been very good for Terry Flood who has vaulted into the chip lead – he’s now playing 666,000 in chips. Francois Bergeron and Theodore Doukas are the only two other players over 500K in chips, while Olivier Boyer finds himself with under 4bb left in his stack as play resumes.

Erik Lemarquand is out of the Second Chance event in 10th place. Erik had recently lost a huge pot to Francois Bergeron, in which Erik’s 10 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds was no good against Francois’ Ace of Spades 10 of Spades on a 10 of Diamonds 6 of Spades Ace of Hearts board, which ran out 4 of Diamonds Ace of Clubs.

Erik managed to double through Marton Szlavy in the hand following, but he was still short and hit the rail just minutes later.

Harley S has been eliminated in 11th place in the Second Chance event, bringing the tournament to the 10-handed final table.

Harley shipped from utg+1 and found a quick flat call from Terry Flood. The blinds both folded and action was closed in the hand.

Harley: Ace of Hearts 8 of Diamonds
Terry: Jack of Hearts Jack of Spades

Harley needed to improve and had only one card with which to do it.

Board: 9 of Hearts 7 of Hearts Queen of Clubs 6 of Diamonds King of Clubs

11th place: Harley S, $4,910.00

Players in the Second Chance event have just returned from break, during which we got full counts for the remaining field. Marco Caza had been scheduled to have his stack counted, but he was eliminated on the hand before the break. Michael Ferrer, on the other hand, had his stack counted but was eliminated just after the break.

Michael shipped from the cutoff and it turned out he held just 4 of Hearts 5 of Hearts while Erik looked him up holding King of Hearts 10 of Hearts – those hearts removing a lot of the potential in low suited connectors.

The board ran out 7 of Hearts Queen of Hearts 7 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds Queen of Spades and Michael was out.

Francois Bergeron is doing much of the work in the tournament now that they have reached the money. Fresh off his elimination of Roger Basil Yaiche and Armah Attoh, he raised under the gun to 11K. Action folded around to Thomas Lefort in the bb who chose to go all in. Francois made the call.

Francois: Ace of Spades 10 of Spades
Thomas: 8 of Hearts 8 of Spades

The race was on… but not for long. The flop was dealt 9 of Spades 10 of Clubs Jack of Spades to give Francois a better pair and the flush draw and the turn Queen of Spades meant he was playing the flush. The King of Hearts on the river sealed the deal and Thomas went out in 15th.

Following this hand, Salomon Ponte was eliminated in 14th place.

Francois Bergeron picked up Ace of Clubs Ace of Hearts just in time, as his pre-flop open was met with two short stack shoves – from both Roger Basil Yaiche with Ace of Spades King of Clubs, and Armah Attoh with Ace of Diamonds Queen of Diamonds.

On a 9 of Spades 7 of Hearts 10 of Hearts 4 of Diamonds 4 of Clubs board, Francois’ pocket aces held for the win as he eliminated two opponents, who both collected $3,790.000 for their run.

An interesting hand just occurred in the Second Chance. Christopher Fisher opened the action to 11K from utg +1, and Roger Basil Yaiche moved all-in for 66K from the cutoff. Terry Flood made the call from the big blind, leaving himself 3.5K behind, and Christopher called as well. The rest of Terry’s chips went in on the 6 of Diamonds 7 of Hearts 8 of Spades board, and hands were tabled.

This is the interesting part, as all three players showed down ace-king suited. Christopher had the Ace of Hearts King of Hearts, Roger the Ace of Clubs King of Clubs and Terry the Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds. Although two players were free-rolling the backdoor flush, the Queen of Clubs turn sealed the chop.

After only a few hands of hand-for-hand action, Farzad Zare has been eliminated in 18th place and the Second Chance tournament is now in the money.

Farzad Zare
Farzad Zare

Harley S opened with a raise to 12K, which was followed by a quick shove from Farzad. The blinds got out of the way and Harley called.

Farzad: Ace of Clubs 6 of Clubs
Harley: King of Spades Queen of Diamonds

Farzad had the lead going to the flop, but the flop of :King of Diamonds 10 of Hearts 8 of Hearts vaulted Harley well in front and the King of Hearts meant Farzad was drawing dead. For the record, the river was Jack of Spades.
