David Jeanneau-Cyr
David Jeanneau-Cyr

With 8 of Spades 7 of Hearts 5 of Spades 3 of Clubs showing on the board, David Jeanneau-Cyr and Theodore Doukas both connected hard enough to empty the clip, and an all-in and call was heard on the turn.

David tabled top set with 8 of Diamonds 8 of Hearts, while Theodore showed down a straight and a redraw with 4 of Spades 6 of Spades. The river paired the board, giving David a full house – but since it was the 7 of Spades, Theodore picked up a straight flush to claim the pot and send his opponent to the rail in 19th place.

With the recent of eliminations of Nimer Ltaif and Samuel Bisrat Tsehai, and now David Jeanneau-Cyr, the Second Chance is down to just 2 final tables with 18 players left. A redraw just took place, and hand-for-hand is in progress as the top 17 places are scheduled to be paid. Below is the new seating assignments of the final 2 tables.

The Second Chance event is now underway, and with just 21 players left, the event has more or less reached the bubble. 17 places in the tournament will be paid, so only the first 4 players to be eliminated today will not be in the money. This should have the effect of keeping the play relatively slow to start the day, as small stacks try and navigate their way to a payout instead of disappointment.

In fact the tourney is even closer to the bubble as Samuel Bisrat Tsehai was eliminated in the first couple of hands.

And now… Day 2 of the High Roller & 2nd Chance

2016/11/17 - 12:00 by

In addition to the final day of the WPT Montreal, today is also host to Day 2 of the High Roller and Second Chance tournaments. They’re both slated to start in 5 minutes, and players are now arriving in the Tournament Hall and taking their seats, ready for action.

In the High Roller event, Pascal Lefrancois is in the driver’s seat with a more than 60K chip advantage as play starts. But while the advantage is nice to have, the field is stacked with talent, so no one on the leaderboard can afford to sit and wait for the action to come to them.

The Second Chance event is also pretty stacked with talent. There are some big chip leaders in the event like Kenneth Lindgren and Jordan Saccucci – but there are players throughout the field that will have a lot to say about who wins this event!

Good luck to everyone today!

Second Chance Day 1 wraps up with 21 players left

2016/11/16 - 22:56 by Jôle Simard

Players in the $1,500 + $150 Second Chance Event just finished bagging their chips. 21 of them survived Day 1 and sent stacks to Day 2, which is set to start at 12pm sharp tomorrow. Play will resume at 2K/4K/a500. Here is a look at our top stacks going into level 16.

Thomas Lefort opened at 5.5K, and Theodore Doukas 3bet at 15,8K. Lefort thought for a while, gauged Doukas’ stack, and finally went all-in, which was called rather promptly by Doukas, who pushed his 65K to the middle.

Thomas Lefort: Ace of Spades Queen of Spades
Thodore Doukas: Ace of Clubs King of Clubs

The board came 2 of Diamonds 8 of Clubs 7 of Hearts 5 of Spades Ace of Diamonds. Lefort takes a hit, and Doukas gains momentum, stacking a 140K pot. Lefort still has about 130K to do good.

With just over an hour to go before the end of Day 1, players have formed the last 3 tables of the tournament. It seems like Kenneth Lindgren escaped the pack, with close to 300K to his name. Marco Caza is not too far behind having cracked the 200K mark himself.

e14-5545Players in the $1,500 + $150 have taken their 3rd break of the night, and are now resuming play at level 13 1K/2K/a300. Some stacks are standing out from the field as a pack, and are listed below in the top 8 table. Harley is now 6th, after making a pretty big comeback. He was left with about 10 big blinds, but since then completed 2 flushes and was offered a nice gift. Also, you may remember Dave Jeannot-Cyr, the guy who won 4 World Cup of Cards trophies, an unprecedented and quite amazing achievement. He also chipped up to 150K, into the 7th spot of our top 8. We are eager to see what the future lies for him today. And finally, our current chip leader is Christopher Fisher, featured on the right, who is sitting on a cool 180K.

When Jaroslaw Zbigniew Jaskiewicz saw King of Hearts King of Diamonds, sitting on about 10 big blinds, he probably saw a great spot to get back in the game. Unfortunately for him, Christopher Fisher was waiting in the dark with Ace of Diamonds Ace of Spades. Jaskiewicz’ stack being so shallow, they were all-in pre-flop, and the 9 of Clubs 6 of Spades 5 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 3 of Spades board did not help him in any way. Another brutal case of fallen kings.
