Cate: Ace of Clubs Ace of Hearts

It was all over for Manig after the board of 8 of Diamonds Ace of Spades 5 of Clubs King of Spades 2 of Hearts was dealt.

The High Roller tournament – Event 15 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic presented by partypoker.net – has reached the final table as Dean Murphy was eliminated in 10th place.

Dean was all in holding Ace of Spades Ace of Diamonds and he was facing the King of Clubs King of Hearts held by Ari Engel. Unfortunately for Dean, Ari got all the way in front with a flopped set and turned quads: 4 of Hearts: King of Diamonds 3 of Clubs King of Spades 2 of Diamonds.

There has now been a full redraw and the players have taken their seats around the final table.

Play in the High Roller tournament is just one elimination away from the final table, which will come together with 9 players remaining (it’s an 8-handed tournament). Pascal has led the way for most of the day today, and at this point has retained his lead although there are several players that are just a little more than a double-up away.

With the simultaneous eliminations of George Caragiorgas and Darren Elias on different tables, and previously the elimination of Keven Michael Stammen in 18th, the High-Roller field was reduced to just 15 players, bringing on a final 2 tables redraw.

The final table will begin once we reach the final 9 players, of which the top 6 will secure a cash prize.

Play has resumed in today’s final day in the High Roller tournament with 21 players left in the action. With only 6 places slated to pay, this event is a long way from the money bubble, but with stakes this high, no one is going to let any pot go easily.

And now… Day 2 of the High Roller & 2nd Chance

2016/11/17 - 12:00 by

In addition to the final day of the WPT Montreal, today is also host to Day 2 of the High Roller and Second Chance tournaments. They’re both slated to start in 5 minutes, and players are now arriving in the Tournament Hall and taking their seats, ready for action.

In the High Roller event, Pascal Lefrancois is in the driver’s seat with a more than 60K chip advantage as play starts. But while the advantage is nice to have, the field is stacked with talent, so no one on the leaderboard can afford to sit and wait for the action to come to them.

The Second Chance event is also pretty stacked with talent. There are some big chip leaders in the event like Kenneth Lindgren and Jordan Saccucci – but there are players throughout the field that will have a lot to say about who wins this event!

Good luck to everyone today!

The $10,000 + $400 High-Roller Event was the biggest buy-in event in the Playground Poker Fall Classic, and it attracted a field of 41 runners, which included many distinguished players in the poker community.

Through 10 levels of play, only 21 players remained when the clock for Day 1 struck zero, and they have bagged and tagged their chips onto tomorrow’s Day 2. Play resumes at 12pm, and will play down until we have our High-Roller champion, who will pocket a $156,000 cash prize as well as a Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy. The top 6 spots will secure a payday.

Local pro Pascal Lefrancois leads the final 21 into action tomorrow, having bagged a massive 174,000 chip stack. Senthuran Vijayaratnam returns with a hefty army of 117,400, while Mark Radoja (105,000) and Darren Elias (104,600) rounds out the list of players who bagged in the 6-figures. Brian Altman
Brian Altman

Brian Altman saw his High-Roller run cut short as he was eliminated in 25th place in a two-part process.

On the first hand (level 9 – 400/800/a100), he opened to 1,800 from utg+1, and found calls from Anthony Zinno (utg+2), Keven Stammen (button) and Marc-Etienne McLaughlin (small blind) before being 3bet to 11,300 from Ari Engel in the big blind. He went into the tank for a few minutes before finally moving in his whole stack, which prompted folds from all three flat-callers. Ari, having invested nearly 50% of his stack, made the quick call and hands were tabled.

Ari: King of Spades Queen of Spades
Brian: Ace of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Ari smashed the King of Diamonds 9 of Spades 10 of Spades 7 of Diamonds 7 of Spades board to double his 25,000 stack, leaving Brian with under 10,000 behind.

A few hands later, Brian moved in for 9,100 from utg and found a call only from Anthony Zinno, next to act. Brian tabled Ace of Hearts Queen of Hearts and was in great shape to double-up versus Ace of Diamonds Jack of Hearts, until the community cards were dealt – 8 of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds 4 of Hearts Jack of Spades 9 of Diamonds.

Other eliminations from levels 9 and 10 include Shankar Pillai, Jeff Gross and Srinivas Gottiparthi.

Here is the seating assignment for the final 3 tables. Only one level remains to Day 1, and once the clock runs out the surviving players will bag their chips onto Day 2. Shortly after the completion of the day, we will publish a full list of player-reported chip counts.
