If you need a reciept for your records, please let any member of the tournament staff know any time during your event and we’ll be happy to print you a duplicate seating ticket/receipt.

When you arrive at your table, your dealer will take the seating ticket you recieved when you bought in to your tournament. You can’t have this one back – but you can have a replacement just by coming to the tournament desk and asking for one.

Good luck in all of your events here at Playground Poker Club!

Re-live Jaime Staples’ first Playground Tourney!

2016/11/10 - 16:25 by

The hottest thing in poker in the past couple of years has been the advent Twitch.tv and of players who live-stream their action. Since very early on, Jaime Staples has been among the top streamers and this year Staples, his brother Matt, Kevin Martin and Jeff Gross moved to Montreal and established “Streamhouse Montreal”.

It doesn’t take long for any poker player in the area to visit Playground Poker, and the other day Jaime, Matt and Kevin came out for their first time to play in Event 5 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic.

Jaime is also a video blogger, and here is his video about his first visit to Playground Poker Club:

Event 5 Champion: Lukas Soucek

2016/11/10 - 0:29 by Playground Poker

Event 5 was a 2-day $1,000 + $100 NL Hold’em Deepstack tournament part of the Playground Poker Fall Classic. A total of 243 players registered for the event, which resulted in a $235,710.00 prize-pool and a $54,630.00 top prize.

37 players bagged chips after 15 levels of play in Day 1, and they returned for Day 2 to crown a champion. With 31 places scheduled to be paid, the money bubble was reached fairly quickly. It then took 6 more levels to reach the final table of 10 players, at which point the field was virtually divided in two: 4 players were up above 1 million in chips, while the other 6 were below 400K. Lukas Soucek was the leader at the time, and although he gave it up to Pirooz Bayat not long after, he regained the top spot atop the leaderboard after winning a huge flip versus Christopher Willis Jackson in 6-handed action.

Once play reached heads-up, it was Lukas (3,635,000) versus Christopher (2,440,000). The clock was paused and the two negotiated a deal, agreeing to leave the required percentage for the eventual winner and to do an ICM chop for the remaining funds. Lukas locked in $45,000 while Christopher secured $41,000, and they played out for the remaining $6,060 and the Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy.

Heads-up lasted for the better part of 4 levels, during which we saw both players take the strangle-hold lead at some point. After much back and forth it was finally Lukas who managed to take a 3-to-1 chip lead when the final hand took place. With only 10 big blinds left, Christopher open-shoved from the small blind with 10 of Clubs 7 of Clubs and Lukas made the quick call with Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades. The 4 of Clubs 6 of Clubs 7 of Hearts flop was huge for Christopher, as he made top pair with a flush draw, but the Ace of Spades turn flipped the odds in Lukas’ favour, and the river 5 of Spades brought no change.

With that hand, Lukas claimed the title of Event 5 champion, taking home a cool $51,600 cash prize, as well as the Champion’s Trophy and an entry to the champion’s freeroll for next series.

Congratulations!

Through 23 levels of play, the field of 243 players has been diminished to a single final table of 10 players. With a $50,000 difference in pay between 1st and last on the final table, this is what it all boils down to.

After winning a huge pot to bring us to the final table, Lukas Soucek leads the way with 1.5 million chips, around 25% of the chips in play. On his tail is Frederic Pierre, who sits in second with 1.1 million in front of him.

The stage is set and action is now underway. Stay tuned to our Playground Poker Blog for live updates as we play down to our Event 5 champion.

Good luck!

The $250 Frenzy Champion: Daune Fernandez

2016/11/09 - 2:15 by Playground Poker

The $250 Frenzy has just come to a close, and after 5 days of poker we saw a 1,336-strong field be reduced to just one single player – Daune Fernandez!

Through 6 starting flights, 285 players made a seat to Day 2, of which 27 survived through onto Day 3. A total of 135 players locked in a cash prize in the event, ranging from a min-cash of $450 up to a whopping top prize of $50,000.

Mike Fraser returned as the chip leader and managed to navigate his stack into 3rd place. Thomas Lefort came in as an average stack, but took no time to run up his count into the chip lead, and maintained this spot for most of the day. It was only once action fell 6-handed that he gave up the driver seat to Daune, who then gave it up to Mike. He regained the chip lead when he eliminated Eric Ranger in 4th place, and never really looked back.

Once heads-up play began between Daune and Thomas, Daune held a nearly 3-to-1 lead. He chipped away at his opponent until Thomas finally scored a double up of almost 10 million with Ace of Hearts 10 of Hearts over 5 of Diamonds 5 of Clubs. Two hands later, action blew up once again between the two player. Thomas opened his button to 875K, and Daune 3bet to 2.3 million. Thomas moved all-in with Ace of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds for almost 10 million and Daune made a quick call with 10 of Spades 10 of Clubs. As the board favoured Daune’s pair of tens, Thomas was eliminated in second place, earning a very respectable consolation prize of $34,069, while Daune claimed victory in The $250 Frenzy, locking in the $50,000 cash prize as well as a Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy.

Congratulations!

The $250 Frenzy only has 2 players remaining – Daune Fernandez and Thomas Lefort are battling it out heads-up for the title, and the $50,000 cash prize that accompanies it.

Daune started heads-up with the lead, as his 20-million stack nearly triples the 7-million of Thomas.

Good luck!

The $250 Frenzy is now down to just one final table, and 10 players are still at war, trying to become our Event 3 champion. $3,100 is already locked in for the 10 finalists, however the top prize is a cool $50,000 prize, and there is therefore a lot at stake right now.

Thomas Lefort leads with a massive 7.5 million stack, which represents over 25% of the chips in play.

Day 2 of Event 3, The $250 Frenzy, has been wrapped. The Frenzy is a cornerstone Event of Playground Poker Club’s Fall Classic. This fall, it attracted 1366 entries, an astounding number, which amassed the amazing $298,129 prize pool. 285 players managed to bag their chips onto Day 2, and of that number, 27 are currently and carefully bagging their chips again, this time towards the main dance, the third and final day.

Mike Fraser is leading the way to Day 3, with a nice 2,455,000 in chips. Then Marco Caza, with 2,160,000. On our multi-millionaire’s tails are Éric Lévesque (1,980,000) and Daune Fernandez (1,910,000). Full player reported chip counts, as well as the seating assignments for Day 3, will be made available shortly.

Day 3 will be played tomorrow, starting at 7pm, and playing down to a winner, which will enjoy the very nice 50K first prize, not to mention the dashing Playground Poker Fall Classic Champion’s Trophy.
