The poker world is gearing up for the coming Playground Poker Fall Classic and WPT Montreal, presented by partypoker.net. The latest story comes from PokerNews: The WPT Montreal Turns Five.
A few short years ago, Playground Poker Club reintroduced Canada to the World Poker Tour by hosting the first WPT Montreal. That first event was a huge success and kicked off an amazing relationship between the WPT, partypoker.net, Playground Poker Club and Canada that continues to drive some of the greatest poker events of the year.
Just 6 days to go until the Fall Classic
We’ve entered the last week in October which means there are just 6 days left until the opening of the Playground Poker Fall Classic presented by partypoker.net.
In case you missed it, as usual we’ve installed new Fall Classic/WPT Montreal felts throughout the Tournament Hall, and the bright orange inset is sure to grab your attention while the grey on grey pattern around the orbit of the tables provides a nice neutral background for play in events.
Plus… the WPT Champion’s Belt
The Event Trophy is great – but the WPT Champion’s Belt is even better! We’ve been awarding Champion’s Belts in WPT and other major Main events since 2011, and this year’s partypoker.net WPT Montreal is no exception! Here’s a photo of last year’s Champion’s Belt alongside the one-of-a-kind WTP Champion’s Trophy, taken during last year’s WPT Montreal.
Fall Classic Trophies!
Every event winner in the 2016 Playground Poker Fall Classic presented by partypoker.net will win an event trophy for their efforts – in addition of course to the winner’s share of the prize pool! The trophies are still en route to Playground Poker Club, but our supplier sent us a photograph of the trophy for Event 1, The Wild $150. And, at the risk of being immodest, this year’s trophies are simply stunning!
Play your way into the WPT Montreal
This year there are two ways to play your way to the WPT Montreal!
Satellite: The Road to the WPT Montreal
- partypoker is hosting WPT Montreal Satellites ($500 + $30 buy-in) every Thursday at 7:00pm (1 seat GTD) and Sunday at 4:00pm (2 seats GTD).
- You can qualify for these via $100 + $9 WPT Feeders on Sundays at 2:00pm and Thursdays at 7:00pm.
- Qualify for the Feeder for just $22 via their “$109 Tickets Mega Satellite” (20 GTD) daily at 12:00pm, 2:00pm, 4:00pm or “Live Event Ticket” satellites (2 GTD) daily at 5:30pm.
- Plus, there are all sorts of less expensive daily satellites you can you use to qualify for your $22 ticket. It’s possible to play your way to the WPT for just $0.01!

Phased tournaments
This year there’s a new way to qualify for the WPT Montreal on partypoker – via a Phased Tournament! Play your way to a $3,850 WPT Montreal seat between now and October 27th.
This Phased Tournament starts with Phase I, a $55 tournament running daily from October 12th to October 26th at 6:00pm, 7:30pm, and 9:00pm. In addition, there will be two more Phase I Turbo tournaments on October 27th at 5:00pm and 6:00pm. You can buy directly into Phase I for $55, or use tournament tickets won via satellite starting for as little as $0.01!
Play in Phase I starts with 30,000 chips and continues for 16 levels of 12 minutes each. Everyone who survives any of the Phase I tourneys qualifies for Phase II. Qualifiers will begin Phase II with the stack they had at the end of Phase I.
Phase II will be held on October 27th at 7:00pm. All Phase I qualifiers will participate (best stack forward), and players may also buy directly into Phase II for $530 (300,000 starting chips). Play will resume in level 13 and continue until only the winners remain. There are an amazing 8 WPT Montreal Seats Guaranteed, a $30,800 value!
