After 6 levels of play, we are on a 45-minutes dinner break here in Day 1c of the WPT Montreal, and the players are enjoying a buffet served by Playground Poker Club. When they return to the felts, the remaining players will have 4 more 1-hour levels to complete before bagging their chips onto Day 2. So far the board shows 296 entries in Day 1c, but with a few more minutes left before the close of registration, we might see a few last minute appearances.

Matthew McDonough leads the field with a stack just above 140K, and he is one of a handful of players who has already breached the 100K chip-mark. Here is the leaderboard after 6 levels of play:

Here are a few more photos of the field in the early going in Day 1c. These photos were all taken on tables in the North end of the Tournament Hall.

There are some first-timers to Playground in the field today, including Brian Hastings, a multiple WSOP bracelet winner known for his fantastic summer of 2015 at the Rio.

Kevin Mark Proctor is playing just one Day 1 in the WPT Montreal, but so far he’s making it count. After just 2 levels of play he has rocketed to the chip lead having amassed over 87,000 in chips so far this morning. It remains to be seen, however, if he can consolidate and build upon those gains through 8 more levels…

Today’s a star-studded day in the WPT Montreal – every table seems to have at least one “household name” sitting at it – assuming a poker-playing household!

A few of the notables in the action today: Andy Frankenberger, Cate Hall, Ari Engel, Brian Hastings, Ankush Mandavia, Brian Altman, Alex Keating, Xuan Liu, and (soon) Mike Leah.

In addition, there’s an A-List of Montreal and Quebec-based talent at the tables, including: Carter Swidler, Pascal Lefrançois, Marc-Etienne McLaughlin, Noeung Troeung, Ruben Perceval, Rodney Ramalho, Marc-Olivier Carpentier Perrault, George Caragiorgas, Jean-Philippe Piquette, Chanracy Khun, Jonathan Roy, and many more…
