Tomas Larivée-Magni is a very talented local player who had a bit of a breakthrough in the past year, having placed 2nd in the $1,500 +$150 No Limit Hold’em CPPT World Cup of Cards for $78,000.00 last september, and 2nd also in the $225 + $25 No Limit Hold’em Frenzy for $43,800.00, in the Playground Poker Fall Classic of last year.
Tomas was sitting on a little less than 100K when he was dealt his final hand in the big blind position, the last one before the dinner break. The under-the-gun +1 player opened to 6.5K, which was 3bet to 17K by the player on his left. When all other players got out of the way, Tom made it 44K to go.
At that point, the original raiser put 106K on the table, enough to cover both opponents. The player who had 3bet mucked his hand, and Tomas reflected for no more than 10 seconds before he made the call, somewhat reluctantly.
He was holding Kings, and found himself in one of the situations most dreaded by tournament players, deep in an Event. His Kings had run into Aces.
Nice run Tomas.
