As we all know, poker can be cruel. It was especially true in this hand, which propelled Éric Guindon among the leaders. An escalation of pre-flop raises got Yacine Zekkour, Arun Kumar Singh and Éric Guindon all-in before the first community cards were opened.

The 3 best hands in hold’em were tabled, and Yacine was on its way to busting 2 players. However, the board would not have it that way. It started rather innocently, but a runner-runner flush was in the works:
!
Guindon triples up to about 270K, taking out Singh and cripling Zekkour, who can be seen below next to Guindon, still smiling after this ordeal.

After just 1 level of play, 30 players were sent to the rail. This rapid narrowing of the field is not surprising, considering that many players had started the night with short stacks. Natural selection at its best.
Here are some photographs of rich stacks:

After 6 starting flights spanning across the last 3 days, and from a total of 1,105 entries, 225 players managed to earn a seat for tonight’s Day 2. These qualifiers will play 12 30-minute levels, during which the money will be reached, and whoever still has chips after 6 and a half hours of play will bag their belongings once more, and send them to tomorrow night’s Day 3 where we will see the conclusion of the $250 Frenzy.
The first goal for tonight will be to last until 117 players are left, which is the number of payouts that were prepared for this Event. After that, players will look to send a healthy stack to tomorrow, where the big money awaits.
Glen Wright starts Day 2 with the most chips, having bagged 289,500 chips at the end of Day 1F. Trevor Adams (286,500) and Marc-André Racine (260,000) are close by, and 14 other players will start with stacks north of 200K, which means that our leaderboard is very likely to change drastically within the first few levels.
The starting line up can be found below, and you will be able to follow the progression throughout the night here, on the Playground Poker Blog.
Good luck to all Day 2 qualifiers!

The tournament director has announced the last 4 hands, and players will be bagging their chips momentarily. Jean-François Langevin and Scott Glendenning have had a sudden burst in chip count, and will appear among the leaders along with Yannick Lamarre-Delooz, Nassim Kabbara and Pinto S, whose aces eliminated Éric Leblond on level 13.
The full list of qualifiers will be added to the combined results shortly. Moving to Day 1F!

Level 13 just started in Day 1E of the $250 Frenzy. As a reminder, 14 levels are played today, which means our players have a little less than an hour to build a stack worth bagging. If you have qualified but are not satisfied with the amount of chips waiting for you on Day 2, you can still get to your objective by playing in tonight’s Day 1F, the last starting flight of Event #4.
