Level 6 is almost complete in the WPT Montreal Day 1A, and players will soon be on a 45-minute dinner break before returning to the felts for 4 more levels of play. Once play resumes in level 7, the registration period will close for the day and we will have our final count for this first of three starting flights. Two more flights remain, with Day 1B Saturday at 11am, and Day 1C Sunday at 11am.

Stay tuned for an update on the leaderboard during the dinner break.

Manig Loeser 3-bet his remaining 10,950 from the blinds after an open from Antony Pelletier, and found a call putting him at risk.

Manig: Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds
Antony: 6 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds

With no help on the Jack of Spades 4 of Hearts 5 of Clubs 9 of Spades 2 of Diamonds board, Manig was eliminated from this first flight of the WPT Montreal.

Defending WPT MTL champion Mike Sexton eliminated

Benjamin Barnoff opened to 800 from early position, and Mike Sexton raised all-in for 9,225. Fabrice Pastor made the call from the button, and the rest of the players got out of the way.

Mike: Ace of Clubs 10 of Spades
Fabrice: Ace of Spades Jack of Spades

Mike took the lead by flopping his 3-outer, but Fabrice caught a running flush to eliminate the former WPT Montreal champ on a 9 of Spades 10 of Clubs King of Clubs 8 of Spades 2 of Spades board. Given the next day re-entry format, we can expect Mike to fire another bullet in a subsequent flight.

Darren Elias took a hit early on in the flight and slid below half of a starting stack. Since then he has been slowly rebuilding and is now back above 30,000 after eliminating Dejuante Alexander moments ago.

Dejuante moved all-in pre-flop for roughly 8,200 with Queen of Hearts Queen of Spades and was felted by the King of Spades King of Diamonds of Darren on a 6 of Diamonds Ace of Diamonds 7 of Clubs 6 of Spades 4 of Hearts board.

Engel finds value on the river

2017/11/10 - 16:09 by Playground Poker

Kevin MacDonal opened to 800 from the cutoff, and the button threw in a calling chip before Ari Engel 3-bet to 4,250 from the big blind. Kevin made the call and the hand closed heads-up.

Both players checked on the 6 of Clubs 7 of Clubs 10 of Diamonds flop, and again on the Jack of Spades turn before a King of Spades river was dealt. Ari checked for a third time, and Kevin placed a bet of 4,200. Ari paused for a moment before raising to 21,100, forcing Kevin in to the tank.

“Really?” asked Kevin with a small grin, before committing the chips. Ari tabled Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts for a straight and the stone-cold nuts, scooping the pot as Kevin mucked his hand.
