Lawrence Greenberg has been eliminated in 4th place from Event #12, the High Roller event, in the Playground Poker Fall Classic. It was a pretty standard cooler hand, though the stakes were high: Lawrence opened with a raise to 35K, Ajay reraised to 100K which was met with an instant shove from Lawrence and an even faster call by Ajay.

Lawrence: Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds
Ajay: Ace of Hearts King of Diamonds

The flop of Jack of Diamonds 5 of Hearts King of Spades put Ajay well in the lead, and by the 7 of Diamonds turn Lawrence was drawing dead. The river was a meaningless 8 of Hearts.

4th place: Lawrence Greenberg, $30,000.00

All four players in the money are still at the table as the tournament break has arrived, and we have updated counts for everyone. Action has been fast all day, but with even the smallest stack playing 35bb+ when play resumes, there’s no reason to think this is going to be over quickly.

Note that the players have requested that for the rest of the tournament, they will have breaks after every second level, but they will only be 10 minutes in length.

Jonathan Duhamel has been an absolute killer in this tournament, and by taking out Darren Elias he put the tournament in the money.

Jonathan opened with a raise to 25K which was met by a shove from Elias. Jonathan made a quick call and the hands were tabled – pocket 8s against the suited Queen Ten held by Darren. The pair held and Darren hit the rail in the bubble spot.

The remaining 4 players are now in the money.

Alex Difelice had been strongly soldiering along, never the big stack but never under threat either, until a run of two hands cut him down and sent him to the rail.

The first of the two hands opened with a raise to 22K from Darren Elias, which was met by a raise all-in from Ajay Gnanasambanthan, who just previously had been muscled out of a couple of pots. Action folded around to Alex, who as quickly as possible shoved all in for more. Nothing more was required to see Darren fold his hand.

The two players’ hole cards were turned over:

Alex: King of Hearts King of Diamonds
Ajay: Ace of Spades Queen of Hearts

There was little suspense on the flop of Ace of Diamonds 5 of Spades 4 of Clubs followed by the 8 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs and Alex shipped most of his stack over to Ajay.

Just a minute later the same two players were all in with Alex holding the 10 of Clubs 8 of Spades against Ajay’s Queen of Hearts 8 of Hearts.

The community cards did nothing for Alex: 7 of Hearts 7 of Clubs 4 of Spades 4 of Clubs 3 of Spades and Ajay’s Queen high was good.

We arrived at the table on the turn with the board showing Jack of Hearts 8 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds Queen of Spades and an 85K bet in front of Jonathan Duhamel, waiting for Jamie Sequeira to act. After some deliberation, he made the call. The dealer dealt a 5 of Hearts on the river.

This time Jonathan took a little time, presumably to assess the value options open to him, but potentially to signal a hard decision with some large portion of his bluffing range in play…

Before too long, Jonathan had it figured out: All in, with a stack that more than covered Jamie’s stack.

Jamie again took some time to think – but it wasn’t long before he pushed his stack forward to make the call. Jonathan instantly tabled 8 of Hearts 8 of Spades for the flopped set… and Jamie mucked.

7th place, Jamie Sequiera.

The remaining 7 players in the High Roller tournament have taken a break and we managed to get full counts for the field. The money bubble is still a couple of slots away, but it will be upon the players soon enough…
