Today in the Playground Poker Fall Classic marks the day when tournaments shift to a slightly higher average buy-in, and along with this will come some more experienced fields – and larger prize pools as well! On the docket for the day is a $500 + $50 NL Hold’em 6-Max tournament.
Short-handed poker is a great variant of the game, particularly in a tournament format. Short-handed poker favours active players – in fact, it guarantees active players. There’s nowhere to hide on a 6-Max table. The blinds come around much more quickly than in the full-ring game, and they will grind down a player’s stack if they don’t work hard to accumulate chips.
Note that the speed of the format means that the button ante format is slightly modified for the 6-Max game – the button ante amount will generally be the same as the small blind amount, not the big blind.
Players will start with a 25K starting stack and 30-minute levels. Late registration will remain open for 6 levels plus the first break, and we expect players to jump in throughout the late registration period.
