When Kyle Chang and Christopher Ryan Facette were all-in pre-flop for amounts that could not hurt him badly, Andrew Macdonald chose to make the call with Jack of Clubs 9 of Clubs. When his opponents showed the same hand, Ace of Diamonds 10 of Clubs and Ace of Clubs 10 of Hearts, he was pretty happy with his call.

Board: 7 of Clubs Jack of Hearts King of Clubs 10 of Spades 5 of Hearts

Macdonald hit a jack, and raked in the sizable pot, adding to his already large stack. He and Dilovan Hussein are now leading the tournament, with almost 700K each, and sitting next to each other.

Before that hand, on the other table, Ruben Perceval crippled Jeremy Lyons when he doubled through him with 10 of Spades 10 of Hearts versus Lyons’ 10 of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds. Jeremy was taken out moments later.

The $1,100 50/50 Bounty dropped to 2 tables of 9 players, and $1,400 is now secured by its sitting participants, on top of any $500 Bounty that they earned. In the first moments after the table break, Chanracy Khan left the room in 18th place.

After the $1,100 Bounty was shrunk to 3 tables, Eric Danis, the winner of the $500 6-max Event, was taken out by Kevin MacDonald with Ace of Spades Queen of Diamonds against Kevin’s King of Spades King of Diamonds. The board came 8 high, and Eric’s 60K were pushed Kevin’s way.

After that, many short stacks managed to double up, including Debra Ann Holman, who’s kings held on against Carlos Gerones’ Ace of Clubs Queen of Clubs. Stephen Smith was not so fortunate. His Ace of Spades Ace of Diamonds went down to 6 of Spades 4 of Spades, and his last 18K are now in Andrew Macdonald’s stack.

The very last hand before the break saw Kliment Tarmakov’s jacks go down after failing to hold in a pre-flop coin flip. That break is now over, and some players were happy to see that they are now 24 players wide and in the money.

After all that chip movement, Carlos Gerones is still ahead, having made good use of his fortune. Here are the biggest stacks at the break:

A few quick eliminations allowed the breaking of another table, leaving just 3 in the $1,100 50/50 Bounty, with 3 eliminations to go before the money.

Rong Xu catches up

  • Level: 16
  • Small Blind: 2K
  • Big Blind: 4K
  • Button Ante: 4K
  • Chip Average: 162.1K
  • Remaining: 29
  • Entries: 188

2017/11/08 - 19:51 by Jôle Simard

When we arrived to the table, Rong Xu’s Ace of Diamonds Ace of Hearts and David Bolduc Hamel’s King of Diamonds King of Spades were tabled, and so was the 4 of Spades Queen of Diamonds Jack of Diamonds 8 of Spades 4 of Diamonds board. Xu’s chip count was then determined to be 145,500, while David had 145,000 – 1 chip less! With a $500 Bounty on the line, everything was double-checked, but the count was right, and David Bolduc Hamel walked away. Hard luck.

Rong Xu have now caught up to the leaders. On his own table, Carlos Gerones extended his lead. It seems that he orchestrated at least one elimination, and his stack is now at almost 500K – a monster on table 70. Play continues with 29 players on 4 tables, 5 eliminations away from the money.

Carlos Gerones leads the field

After 14 levels of play, the leaderboard is headed by Carlos Gerones, who just had an amazing few levels. It is also the case for Kevin Macdonald and Michael Malm. You will have to go to the current 4th spot to find a player that was on last break’s top count list. This player is Dilovan Hussein, who has gained a few chips since then, on cruise control.
