Tournament players have just returned from their first break of the day and although it’s too early for a definitive leaderboard, we can report that in a survey of the room, there were quite a few stacks in the 50K+ range – more than twice the starting stack. One player – Peter Linkletter – has staked himself to a big early lead playing over 95K already, with 2 bounties in addition to his own.
Today’s $1,100 50/50 Bounty tournament is approaching the first break of the day and there are already 177 runners in the tournament – and another 60 minutes of late reg available to swell the field even more!
In a field this size with this scale of buy-in, obviously there are some very talented players in the field. Ari Engel was among the early eliminations today, but we’ve also seen Eric Afriat, Griffin Benger, Carter Swidler, among others, at the tables today.
Participation in Event #8 has grown from 54 players to 138 players in the space of a single half-hour level, and with late registration still open for another 2.5 hours and it’s 100% assured that this will be a huge event!

The TD has made the introductory announcements and after a short 20-second pause, the clock has started and cards are in the air in Event #8. The tournament clock shows 54 entries at the moment, but there’s a lineup at the cashier of players buying in to the event and that number is sure to grow quickly.
Event #8 in the Playground Poker Fall Classic is a big one – not as big as the WPT Montreal or a High Roller event, but with a $100,000 Guarantee on a $1,100 buy-in – and action built in to the format – it’s sure to be a huge day.
The tournament is a $500 + $100 + $500 NL Hold’em 50/50 Bounty event. Each player in this amazing bounty tournament will be given a $500 Bounty chip that they must surrender to the player that eliminates them from the tournament! Not $25, not $100… Five hundred dollars!
If history is a guide, this is sure to be a fantastic tournament. Given the wild dynamics of any bounty tournament, it’s certain to be one of the most fun events on the schedule as the pressure is amped up by such a huge bounty chip. Not only will the “traditional” prize pool be impressive, but the prizes locked up in players’ bounty chips is HUGE!
This is a one-day event and blinds throughout will be 30 minutes in length and players start with a 25K stack. As is the case for all events with a buy in of greater than $500, late registration will be available through the first 6 levels of the tournament, which means that players have until 2:15pm to join in the fun – and we expect to draw new players right until the end of late reg.
