Shortly after doubling table-opponent Sebastien Fortier for 1,015,000 chips, Ruben has just bounced back up the leaderboard by winning a little over 1 million chips, without even seeing a flop.

Daniel Le opened to 175,000 from middle position, and Ruben replied with a 3bet to 405,000 from the button. The blinds got out of the way, and Daniel announced a raise up to 975,000. Ruben glanced over at the dealer, and quietly announced all-in, forcing Daniel into the tank.

Daniel assessed the situation, and concluded that a fold was his best play at the moment, forfeiting over 1/3 of his chips to a very dangerous opponent. Daniel now holds a little over 1.5 million, while Ruben is just shy of 3 million – putting him slightly behind current chip leader Said Michailidis.

The first orbit on the final table of the $100K Gtd has just passed, and action was rather tame to start the night. Philippe Drouin earned himself a decent pot when he called a 3bet preflop with 10 of Diamonds 10 of Hearts and flopped a set, but otherwise most pots were kept fairly small.

On the last hand of this first orbit, Daniel Le min-raised from early position, and was put to a decision when Siamak 3bet all-in for just over 1-million. He finally made the call, and the two were off to the races.

Daniel: Jack of Diamonds Jack of Hearts
Siamak: Ace of Clubs Queen of Clubs

Siamak was unable to find help on a 9 of Spades 8 of Hearts 9 of Clubs 3 of Hearts 2 of Spades board, and turned out to be the first casualty of this final table.

    10th place: Siamak – $1,110.00

Day 2 is coming close to reaching it’s objective, which is to play down until the final table of 10 players is reached.

Since the field has dropped to its two final tables, we’ve lost four players: Michael Plante (18th), Michael Truaisch (17th), James Ghislain Collin (16th) and Sebastien Allain (15th). Once 4 more eliminations occur, the remaining 10 players will bag their chips for Day 3, which takes place tomorrow night.

The final 14 players have guaranteed themselves a payday of at least $870, but all of them have their eyes on the big prize – $28,000!

    17th place: Michael Truaisch – $730

Perceval takes charge with 17 left

Local hero Ruben Perceval, who has shown time and time again he is a force to be reckoned with, has just won the biggest pot to date in this $100K Gtd event.

On a flop showing Jack of Clubs 4 of Clubs 10 of Spades, Ruben went into a betting war versus (at-the-time) chip leader Emmanuel Gordon. Once all was said and done, and no more chips were left to wager, the two players tabled their hands.

Ruben showed down Ace of Spades Ace of Hearts, and was up against the Ace of Clubs 3 of Clubs of Emmanuel. The turn 5 of Diamonds brought a few more outs to Emmanuel, but the river 6 of Diamonds was just the brick Ruben was looking for.

Ruben slid forward a hair over 1-million in chips to be payed out, and with a few hundred thousand already in the middle, he now holds roughly 2,500,000, good for the tournament chip lead.

The tournament staff just finished racing off the T1,000 chips, which gave us enough time to bring a complete update on the leaderboard of the remaining 20 players. Emmanuel Gordon still has a stranglehold lead going into level 26, and is the only player over the 2-million chip mark. Said Michalaidis has been putting his tournament experience into play and has climbed the leaderboard in recent levels, sitting in a comfortable second place in chips at the moment.

    Emmanuel Gordon

Emmanuel Gordon has been on a heater in the last few orbits, and has taken over the massive chip lead of this event. After chipping up on several different hands, he now closes on the 2-million chip mark, putting him more than 750,000 chips ahead of any other player in the field at the moment.

20 players remain in this Day 2, and play will continue until the final table of 10 players will be reached. The ten finalists will then return tomorrow evening for the conclusion of this tournament, with the winner scheduled to take home a sweet $28,000 cash prize.
