Contrary to expectations, the early pace today was relatively leisurely, with only 4 or 5 eliminations in the first 15 minutes of play, and not a huge pickup after that. As level 15 completed and level 16 got started, though, the pace started to increase to the point where now there have already been 33 eliminations.

Play has now begun on Day 2 of the tournament and an initial survey of the room confirms what the seating chart indicated – among the 169 players who started the day are an extremely impressive group of past champions of events at Playground Poker Club or at least players who have made deep runs in big events that have been hosted here.
And that’s not even mentioning other players who have proven their high level of skill elsewhere (in addition to here at Playground) like Ruben Perceval, Levon Dedayen, and Yannick Labattaglia.

The 169 players who qualified to return today from the 4 starting flights in the $100,000 Guaranteed NL Hold’em tourney in the TonyBet Power Weekend are taking their seats, unbagging their chips and mentally preparing themselves for what will be – for some – a long day of great poker action.
For others the day will be shorter – typically in events like this, the eliminations to start Day 2 come at a blistering pace as short stacked players try to double up to make a run for the money. That being said, there are only 8 players in this tournament who will start Day 2 with fewer than 10 big blinds in their stack, which is a relatively low total, so there are fewer players than usual who might be considered to be in the “danger zone”.
Time will tell how things play out. Regardless, as the number of players ticks down the tournament will get closer and closer to the money bubble, which will be reached when the player in 91st place is eliminated. The remaining 90 players will all be in the money. So once the initial frenzy concludes, the bubble watch is the next major threshold in the tournament.
The leaders today have managed to build up truly monster stacks through the 14 levels played so far. There are 14 players who start today with over 200K in tournament chips – so each of these players is playing over 67 big blinds. And the chip average is just about 35 big blinds, indicating that there is a lot of play to be had in the tourney.

There were 32 qualifiers from Days 1a and 1b, 38 qualifiers from Day 1c, and another 67 qualifiers from Day 1d. The chip average across the entire remaining field is 104,000 to start Day 2.

Registration has now closed in the $100K GTD tournament in the TonyBet Power Weekend and the final number of players in tonight’s Day 1d flight was 329 entries – the largest starting flight by far! This brings the total number of entries in the event to 880!
There are two players that have already distanced themselves from the field in the early action tonight: Maxime Lefebvre with 75,600 chips and Sylvain Deslandes with 61,100 chips.
The average is currently 24.7K, and after these leaders there are a few more players with between 35K and 45K.

There were 178 entries in Day 1c of the $100K Guarantee tournament in the TonyBet Power Weekend, and after 14 levels of play, 38 players remained. These players have all qualified for Day 2 of the tournament, scheduled to begin at 1pm on Saturday March 12th.
Any player who entered today’s starting flight in the tournament may re-enter in a subsequent starting flight – this is a “next day re-entry” event, meaning that players may enter each of the 4 starting flights once. If a player happens to qualify for Day 2 through 2 separate starting flights, only their best Day 1 result will count.
Note that these are player-recorded chip count totals. The actual chips have been sealed in bags which will be opened by the players to be returned to play on Day 2.
