Event 4 of the Montréal Poker Expo was a $300 + $30 NL Hold’em Freeze that started on Monday August 24th at 7:30pm and continued on Day 2 (Tuesday August 25th, 7:00pm).

There were a total of 168 players in the event of whom 40 came back for Day 2. The total prize pool in the event was $48,888.00 which was distributed according to the following table.

Note that there was a player deal made with 3 players remaining. They agreed to reserve $1000 and the trophy for the winner of the tournament and distribute the remaining prize pool according via ICM chop. The figures in the table below reflect these modified payouts.

L’Évènement 4 de L’Expo Poker de Montréal était un tournoi de 300$ + 30$ NL Hold’em Freeze qui commença le lundi 24 août à 19h30 et qui se déroulera sur deux jours (Jour 2, le mardi 25 août 19h00).

Un total de 168 joueurs se sont inscrits à cet évènement, dont 40 sont revenus pour le Jour 2. Une cagnotte totale de 48 888$ a été distribuée selon le tableau suivant.

Veuillez noter qu’une entente fût conclue par les 3 joueurs restants. Ils se sont entendus pour réserver 1 000$ au vainqueur ainsi que le Trophée du Champion distribuant ainsi le reste de la cagnotte par calcul ICM. Le tableau suivant respecte l’entente et son calcul.

Event 4 Champion: Philipp Daze

Everything seemed to fall into place today for Philipp Daze, and he seemed unbeatable from the moment he got to the final table. At a few occasions, he found himself all-in and trailing his opponent, however lady luck had different plans for him and always pulled him out of trouble to inevitably lead him to victory!

Play opened up considerable after a 3-way deal was made, and Philipp’s run good managed to eliminate Hiroaki in 3rd place, and then later eliminate heads-up opponent Ruben Perceval. In the final hand of play, Ruben open-shipped a dozen big blinds from the small blind, and found a call. He turned over , and lost to Philipp’s on a board reading .

Philipp earned himself a sweet $9,978 cash prize for his win, as well as a beautiful Montréal Poker Expo Champion’s Trophy, while Ruben collected $8,015 for his second place finish.

Once play fell to 3-handed, the players asked to pause the clock to discuss a potential deal. The tournament requires $1,000 to be left to the eventual winner, who will also take home a Montréal Poker Expo Champion’s Trophy, and the players decided to split the rest of the prizepool based on an ICM chop.

Sean Windover pushed all-in rather light for just under 400,000 from under the gun, and ran into a monster, as Hiroaki snapped with from the big blind. Sean turned over , and although he flopped a pair, the board ran in favour of the aces.
