Tonight at 6:00pm, Event 2 of the Montréal Poker Expo will begin – the shootout event!
This is a special format of tournament that in many ways is the “purest” form of tournament poker. In a shootout tourney, players begin at a particular table and they must WIN that table before moving on in the tournament. What makes this interesting – and a ton of fun – is that to do well, a player must not only have mastered “full ring” play (9- or 10-handed – they must also be able to adapt to short-handed play as well.
Because of the format, there is a “hard” cap of 100 total players allowed in the event – no alternates will be permitted. And because this has always been a popular event – players should be careful to register as soon as possible to make sure of their place in the event.
