Day 1a of the Strike Out Cancer event in the Montréal Poker Expo attracted a huge field of 238 entries – a very strong number for the first of four starting flights. After 13 levels of play, just 59 players remained. Those players have all qualified for Day 2, which is to begin on Sunday August 23rd at 12pm.

Note that any player who played in Day 1a, whether they qualified or not, may play in one or more additional starting flights. In the event that a player qualifies in two or more Day 1s, only their largest stack will move forward to Day 2. We will provide detailed records of any such activity when the official seating draw for Day 2 is released on Saturday night.

Note that these are unverified player-counted chip counts. All chips have been sealed in bags until they return to play on Day 2.

The remaining players are now playing their last 5 hands of this first starting flight of the Strike Out Cancer charity event! The remaining players at the end of these final hands will count and bag their chips – everyone left has qualified for Day 2 on Sunday.

All players in today’s flight – even those who have qualified – are allowed to play in additional starting flights. One entry per flight per player is permitted.

We’ll publish a full list of surviving players with their chip counts as soon as the list is available.

Players are almost all the way through level 4 of Day 1a of the Strike Out Charity event, and new players have been streaming in at a regular rate all through these first 4 levels. Registration in today’s flight is up to 231 entries, with another 20 minutes left for players to jump in the action.
