23 players have survived Day 2 of Event 1 – Strike Out Cancer Charity Event – and they will be back tomorrow at 7:00pm for the conclusion of this kickoff event of the Montréal Poker Expo. Leading the way is Marc Doyer-St-Jean, who bagged 2,140,000.

Level 26 has begun a few moments ago, which means we are near the end of Day 2 of the Strike Out Cancer Charity Event. Upon the completion of this last level, the remaining players will take a break until tomorrow evening, where they will play out until there is a winner.

Fazeel Munawar has won a number of pots since the last break, and has now taken over the chip lead in Event 1. Sitting on roughly 2.4 million in chips, he leads second place Hezkiel Menache by over half a million chips, who has dropped slightly below the 2-million mark. Only 28 players remain, which means there will be a full seating redraw after the next elimination.

Brian Bond has just won a huge hand to vault him among the chip leaders. Brian is a past champion in this event, and has final tabled at least once more than that as well. His stack was already very solid at the time of the hand – he was playing approximately 550K, but he has almost doubled that and eliminated two shorter-stacked players in the process. We missed most of the hand, but the action started with a limp from early position, followed by a raise by Brian and a shove all-in from a third player (we’ll call him Player C). The initial limper also went all-in for less, and Brian made the call.

and Brian’s Kings held up three-way – and he stacked a massive pot.

Play on the bubble didn’t stay very slow – just as the tournament staff was preparing to move into hand-for-hand play, there were 3 quick eliminations and just like that, the bubble burst and the rest of the players are in the money in the event.
For the record, these last three players to be eliminated before the money were Steve Leblanc, Ramon De La Cruz, and Neal Freeman, and the first player to bust in the money was Fabian Lacroix, who had been nursing a tiny stack for some time, hoping for the best.
