Antonio “The Magician” Esfandiari has recently entered the club, and has just joined in tonight’s Day 1d of the Strike Out Cancer Charity Event! He has become somewhat of a regular player here during events at Playground Poker Club, calling it his “home away from home”.
Cards are now in the air, and registration will remain open for a little over 2 hours.

Events supporting all kinds of medical research are common, and cancer research may be at the top of everyone’s priority list. This may be true for a simple reason: everyone has some kind of personal experience with cancer.

There are a couple of very special guests at Playground Poker Club today – hockey legends Larry Robinson and Guy Carbonneau! They were both interviewed on Montreal Sports Radio TSN 690 just a few minutes ago, and Larry Robinson has taken is seat in the tournament this morning. Guy Carbonneau will be playing in one of the upcoming starting flights.

In just over 18 hours, the first players will take their seats in the $135 + $25 NL Hold’em Strike Out Cancer Charity Event here at Playground Poker Club!
The event will be a star-studded affair, with local heroes like Larry Robinson, Guy Lafleur, Guy Lapointe and Guy Carbonneau all joining us at Playground during the event alongside our poker heroes like Antonio Esfandiari! It’s all for a good cause: $25 of every buy-in to the event will be donated to the Jodi Taiger Lazarus Fund for Hereditary Breast Cancer Research.
That the event is being played for a good cause is just part of the story, though. The other important element is that the tournament has a $100,000 Prize Pool Guarantee! No matter what, on Monday evening, some lucky poker player will be going home with a much bigger bankroll than they started with.
The Montréal Poker Expo is part of a perfect storm for players that’s brewing here at Playground. In addition to the high interest in the Poker Expo, there’s also a record-setting Bad Beat Jackpot, just waiting to be won by a fortunate cash game player. As of this moment, the Jackpot is at $556,322.00 – and that figure is going to keep going up until there’s a winner!

The Montréal Poker Expo gets underway in just one week! The first event is the $135 + $25 Strike Out Cancer Charity event, and it starts with TWO Day 1 flights on Friday August 21st!
What’s special about this event is that the entire $25 tournament fee is going to the Jodi Taiger Lazarus Fund for Hereditary Breast Cancer Research. It’s going to be a great tournament for a great cause – and with a $100,000 Guarantee, it’s going to have a massive prize pool for the players as well.
In addition to the Strike Out Cancer tournament, the Montréal Poker Expo includes 13 other events including the $1,000 + $100 Main Event with a $500,000 Guarantee. Players in all 14 events will be playing for shares of the huge prize pools, as well as bragging rights over poker friends and poker foes alike. In addition, they’ll also be competing for an amazing Montréal Poker Expo trophy. The Main Event trophy is a little bigger than the rest of them, but they’re all very attractive and will be right at home in anyone’s personal trophy case!
