The players in today’s Day 1c of the Strike Out Cancer event have just returned from their second break of the day as tournament staff has removed the green T25 chips from play. During the break we found the top 5 chip leaders in the tournament to this point.

Two interesting notes about this leaderboard. First, Diana Shamshoum is among the leaders – and at the first break was the runaway leader in the tourney – but between then and now she dropped to just 18K in chips (most of those went to Dawn Cook), but then she managed to build her stack back up to third place overall.

The second interesting point to note is that the player in 5th place, Alim Perales, is a past champion of this event.

Here are some photos taken during level 8 of today’s third of four starting flights in the Strike Out Cancer Charity Event in the Montréal Poker Expo. We’ll put together a leaderboard of the current chip leaders during the break, which is coming in just a few minutes.

Players in Day 1c of the Strike Out Cancer event have returned from their first break of the day. The end of the first break represents the end of the late registration period, and the total figure for today’s third of four starting flights in the event is 311 entries – adding up to 889 entries total.

During the break we did a survey of the remaining 264 stacks in play and found two players have taken a significant early lead in the tourney: Diana Shamshoum has over 85K in chips, and Vladimir Davydov is playing around 75K in chips.

With 13 full levels being played today, there’s still a long time for anyone to build their chip stacks, and everyone is a long way from the 250K+ of the first two flights’ chip leaders.

After the great attendance for Days 1a and 1b, it’s hardly a surprise that Day 1c has attracted a lot of entries as well. With just over 45 minutes left for late registration, there are already 290 entries in today’s flight. The field has thus passed the number needed for the prize pool guarantee, and every additional entry means the prize pool is growing that much more!

The special guests in attendance for today’s starting flight are Guy Carbonneau and legendary coach and analyst Jacques Demers. Both are currently seated in the tournament and have great hopes to qualify for Day 2!
