A big day: 238 entries in Day 1a
Late registration is now over and players have resumed play in level 5 of the 13 levels to be played today. At the end of the registration period there were a total of 238 entries, which is very strong for the first of 4 starting flights of an event of this kind.
A few players have managed to build up strong chip stacks – we’ll be circulating to get some counts before the next break. One of the players with a solid chip count at this point is Larry Robinson, who (as we wrote earlier) hit a Royal Flush – which he followed up with Quad Queens!
Here are a few other shots of players with “interesting” chip stacks part way through level 5.
Last level of late registration in Day 1a
Players are almost all the way through level 4 of Day 1a of the Strike Out Charity event, and new players have been streaming in at a regular rate all through these first 4 levels. Registration in today’s flight is up to 231 entries, with another 20 minutes left for players to jump in the action.
In other news – we have received word that Larry Robinson has just spiked a Royal Flush to stay alive in the tournament!

Here is the first batch of photos from Day 1a of Event 1 of the Montréal Poker Expo.
Special guests
There are a couple of very special guests at Playground Poker Club today – hockey legends Larry Robinson and Guy Carbonneau! They were both interviewed on Montreal Sports Radio TSN 690 just a few minutes ago, and Larry Robinson has taken is seat in the tournament this morning. Guy Carbonneau will be playing in one of the upcoming starting flights.

The Montréal Poker Expo has begun!
Players are now taking their seats for Day 1a of the Strike Out Cancer Charity Event, which is Event 1 in the Montréal Poker Expo! The tournament has 4 starting flights – Day 1b will start at 7:30pm this evening, and then Days 1c and 1d will go at the same times tomorrow!
To start the day there are already over 100 players seated, and late registration is open for 4 half-hour levels, so this figure should double between now and 1pm.
Good luck to all of the players!
