6th place: Guillaume Bibeau

2014/08/25 11:09pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

Guillaume Bibeau was nursing a short stack for most of this final table, yet somehow every time he got his chips in the middle, they would come back in double. He wasn’t able to score another double up on his last hand though, as he open shoved 1.3M from the cutoff and was called by Eddie Bangash on the button.

Guillaume: 2 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds

Eddie: Ace of Hearts Jack of Hearts

Board: King of Clubs Jack of Diamonds 7 of Diamonds 7 of Clubs King of Diamonds

6th place: Guillaume Bibeau, $6,690

7th place: Pierre Hubert Maltais

2014/08/25 10:52pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

Pierre Hubert Maltais opened preflop from middle position to 325K, and was followed by Eddie Bangash on the button, and Robert Amireault from the big blind. The dealer rang out a 9 of Hearts Queen of Diamonds 3 of Clubs flop, and Pierre Hubert fired 550K after Robert knocked the table. Eddie made the call, and Robert threw his cards away. When the turn brought the 10 of Spades, Pierre Hubert opted for a check. Eddie then slid in a bet of 930K, to which Pierre Hubert responded with an all-in for roughly 2.5M. Eddie couldn’t get his chips in fast enough, tabling King of Clubs Jack of Hearts for the nut straight. Pierre Hubert turned over Ace of Spades Ace of Diamonds, a hand that was drawing dead at that point. The river was a meaningless 6 of Clubs, and Eddie added over 3.5M new chips to his stack, increasing it to over 10 million!

7th place: Pierre Hubert Maltais, $4,400

8th place: Terry Nother

2014/08/25 10:42pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

Terry Nother found himself all-in preflop for his last 1.2M chips versus fellow short stack of the table, Guillaume Bibeau. He was poised for the double up, as his King of Hearts King of Diamonds were far ahead of Guillaume’s Ace of Hearts 6 of Spades, that is until Guillaume spiked a pair of aces on the river of the 8 of Diamonds 9 of Diamonds 10 of Clubs 8 of Hearts Ace of Diamonds board.

8th place: Terry Nother, $3,390

9th place: Francois Gauthier

2014/08/25 10:36pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

Francois Gauthier was on a bit of a roller-coaster ride these last few hands, as he managed to double up to over 3 million versus Normand St Jean Thibodeau, only to lose half of it to Pierre Hubert a few hands later. Less than an orbit later, he found himself shipping 525K over to Guillaume Bibeau, who managed to double his short stack with King of Clubs 10 of Clubs versus Francois’s Ace of Spades 10 of Diamonds when a king hit the flop.

In his last hand, Francois 3-bet shoved just over 1 million over Justin Lieu’s utg min-raise, who made the call.

Francois: Ace of Spades 10 of Clubs

Justin: 10 of Diamonds 10 of Spades

Francois wasn’t able to come from behind, and failed to improve on the 2 of Hearts 2 of Diamonds 4 of Hearts 6 of Diamonds 8 of Spades board to finish in 9th place.

9th place: Francois Gauthier, $2,710

Chips are flying

2014/08/25 10:20pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

Action has been rather quiet here in the last level, as most hands are either taken down preflop or on the flop. Then a series of hands occurred that sent chips flying from one end of the table to the other.

In the first of the action hands, Francois Gauthier moved all-in from middle position for 1.69M, and Normand St Jean Thibodeau called from the button.

Francois: Queen of Hearts Jack of Diamonds

Normand: Ace of Spades King of Spades

Francois was quite content with the board, as the Jack of Hearts 5 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds Jack of Spades Ace of Hearts scored him a much needed double up.

On the very next hand, action folded around to Normand in the cutoff, who made a raise to 360K. Eddie Bangash moved all-in from the big blind, and Normand committed his 1.46M stack.

Normand: Ace of Hearts 10 of Diamonds

Eddie: King of Spades Jack of Hearts

Normand managed to climb back to almost where he was two hands earlier, as he made a straight on the Queen of Clubs Jack of Spades 9 of Spades 8 of Clubs 7 of Spades board.

Just two hands later, we saw Francois min-raise to 260K, and snap call Pierre Hubert Maltais all-in of 1.75M.

Francois: Queen of Clubs Queen of Diamonds

Pierre Hubert: Ace of Clubs Queen of Spades

The board was looking good for Francois, until Pierre Hubert ran a straight on the 7 of Clubs 5 of Clubs 4 of Diamonds 2 of Hearts 3 of Clubs board for the double up.

On the very next hand we witnessed yet another all-in and call, however this time Terry Nother and Robert Amireault both turned over the same hand, AQo, to chop the pot.

10th place: Tony Capone

2014/08/25 9:12pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

It only took one hand on this final table to see our first casualty. Normand St Jean Thibodeau opened from utg to 300K holding a stack of roughly 2.2M, and was faced with an all-in from Tony Capone from the cut-off. Normand tanked for a moment before committing another 625K into the pot, and found himself in a good spot.

Tony: Ace of Spades Jack of Diamonds

Normand: Ace of Diamonds Queen of Hearts

Tony didn’t see any help on the King of Spades Queen of Clubs 3 of Clubs 6 of Diamonds 9 of Clubs board, and took a walk to the cashiers to collect his winnings of $1,940.

10th place: Tony Capone, $1,940

11th place: Edouard Dupuis

2014/08/25 8:59pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

After losing a large chunk of his stack a few hands earlier, Edouard Dupuis moved his last 490K into the middle from the button in an unopened pot. He was called by both Eddie Bangash in the small blind, and Pierre Hubert Maltais in the big blind. Both players checked to the river, and with the board showing 8 of Spades 8 of Clubs 10 of Hearts 2 of Hearts Queen of Clubs, Eddie fired a bet of 330K, which was uncalled by Pierre Hubert. Eddie opened Ace of Diamonds 7 of Clubs, and Edouard mucked his hand.

There is now a seating redraw for the final table of 10 players, which we will publish momentarily.

Bangash takes over the chip lead; Maltais cripples Dupuis

2014/08/25 8:50pm by Playground Poker
Tournament: Event 1 - $135 + $15 No Limit Hold'em Re-entry

We just witnessed a big hand develop between Eddie Bangash and former chip leader Terry Nother. Eddie opened the action from under the gun to 215K, and saw a 3-bet from Terry to 715K. After a few moments of silence, Eddie prepared a 4-bet to 1.875M, which was flatted by Terry. The dealer opened the flop of 7 of Hearts 9 of Spades 3 of Hearts, and Eddie announced he was all-in. Terry folded his cards, and Eddie upped his stack to just over 6.6M, good for the current chip lead.

A few hands later, we saw Pierre Hubert Maltais go all-in preflop versus Edouard Dupuis.

Pierre Hubert: King of Hearts King of Diamonds

Edouard: Ace of Spades King of Clubs

Board: Jack of Diamonds 2 of Spades 9 of Clubs 6 of Spades Jack of Spades.

Pierre Hubert doubled his 1.325M stack, leaving Edouard with just over 500K.

We are just one elimination away from our final table of 10 players!
