Rick Shamshoum has just missed the official final table of the Playground Poker Montreal Festival Main Event, as he was eliminated in 10th place by Thi Nguyen. Rick moved all-in from under the gun +1 for nearly 1.2M, and was called by Thi from the big blind.

There was a sweat through to the river, but Thi’s pocket pair held it’s grounds on the board, and with that elimination, Day 3 is now over. The Main Event will resume at 12:00pm tomorrow, and will play out until a champion is crowned!

Although the official final table is composed of only 9 players, the tournament falls to a single ‘unofficial’ final table once the field is reduced to 10 individuals. With the recent elimination of Chad Gray in 11th place, we have now reached this stage. Here are our 10 finalists:

Chad Gray is the latest player to be eliminated, and also the last player to go before the final redraw of the tournament as the remaining players come together on a single table.

Chad’s stack had dwindled to 1.6M and in this hand, he open shoved on the button and found one caller in Noeung Troeung sitting in the small blind position.

A stunning hand just took place between Gabriel Vézina and Daniel Gagnon that saw Gabriel hit the rail in 12th place and vaulted Daniel once again to a massive chip lead in the tournament.

Daniel opened the action with a raise to around 300K and Gabriel raised to 720K. Daniel just called and the dealer dealt the flop.

On the flop, Daniel opened to 625 and Gabriel raised all-in. Daniel snap called and the hands were flipped.

Daniel’s flopped set of threes was well ahead and the and sent Gabriel to the tournament desk to get his payout ticket.

Michael Mellor started the day with a short stack but he has chipped up very successfully and now is one of the larger stacks left in the tournament.

In the hand in question, Noeung Troeung raised from middle position to 160K and Daniel Gagné, to his immediate left, flat called. Michael also called from the BB and the flop was dealt: . Action checked around and the turn came .

Michael checked, then Noeung bet 240K and Daniel called. Michael then chose to raise it up to 740K. Noeung folded but Daniel called. The river was dealt: and the action went check – check and Michael turned over and stacked up the 2.3M pot.

John Helou min-raised from middle-position to 160K, and was 3-bet by Lorne Wechsler to 325K, sitting on the button. John opted for a 4-bet to 630K, but was forced to fold once Lorne 5-bet all-in for around 3.6M (John started the hand with roughly 2.5M).

Facing a button-raise to 175K from the part of Daniel Gagne, Joakim Beaupre 3-bet shoved his 800K stack from the small blind and got the call from Daniel.

The board ran , and Daniel’s rivered pair of sixes was enough to knock Joakim out of the tournament in 13th place.

Noeung Troeung, who spend a good part of the day on top of the leaderboard yesterday, saw his stack dwindle at the start of Day 3. After doubling up versus Alexandre a few orbits ago, he has managed to once again double up. After a button-raise to 200K from Michael Mellor, and a 3-bet to 500K from Thi Nguyen in the small blind, Noeung moved in for 1.58M from the big blind. Michael threw his cards into the muck, and Thi tanked for a minute before announcing the call.
