Rick Shamshoum had a difficult decision to make versus Chad Gray, but inevitably made the right move to score a double up to well over average stack.

On a flop showing , and with over a million in the middle from a 3bet preflop, Chad lead out with a bet of 500K. Rick tanked for a few minutes, and even had the clock called on him, before he committed the chips, holding 710K behind. On the turn, Chad moved all-in, and Rick again went into the tank. A few moments later he announced call, and they turned over their cards.

The river changed nothing, and Rick doubled up to over 3.5 million, leaving Chad with just over a millio behind.

We caught up on the turn in a pot where Mike Costa had all his chips in the middle versus Alexandre Lavigne on a board showing . Once they tabled their hand, Mike saw he was in big trouble, and murmured “Come on, river me”.

The river brought no help to Mike, who was eliminated in 14th place for $9,380.

A few hands later, Noeung Troeung moved all-in from middle position for 890K, and got a call from Alexandre in the small blind.

The tournament has picked up steam as we say goodbye to Michael Malette, Derek Lerner, Amir Babakhani, and Ami Alibay.

First to go in 19th place was Michael Malette, following which there was a full seating redraw with 18 player remaining. Almost immediately after the redraw we also lost Derek Lerner, Amir Babakhani, and Ami Alibay.

Just as soon as we posted that Derek Lerner was flush with chips, he lost a huge hand to John Helou.

We missed the action in the hand but the players were all in preflop on a board that ran out . Unfortunately for him, Derek missed with his while John held a made hand: to double up.

…But not in tournament chips. Derek Lerner’s stack is just fine with 22 players left, and he’s clearly enjoying himself and very comfortable at his table. It’s just that players keep offering to show their hands for $10, and Derek can’t pass up the opportunity to make the big fold and pay to see his opponents holdings.

Just now he jokingly asked the TD if he could have an advance on whatever his prize will eventually be, because he doesn’t have an unlimited supply of cash on hand!

Since the last break there have been three more eliminations, leaving just 22 players still in the Main Event.
