After a solid performance throughout the Main Event, Thi Nguyen’s deep run has come to an end. After Daniel Gagnon limped from the button, Thi moved in from the small blind for roughly 2.4M. Noeung Troeung folded from the big blind, and Daniel made the call.

Unfortunately for Thi, Daniel paired the river on the board to win the pot. Thi earned $89,700 for her third place finish.

Thi Nguyen has had a great tournament but finds herself in a tough spot with 3 players remaining.

She just lost a huge put against Daniel Gagnon as both players had committed 1.3M to the pot preflop and then saw the first three cards: . Thi led out to 1.5M but before she even assembled the chips to put in the pot, Daniel raised to 3.5M, sending Thi into the tank for a good 2 minutes. She finally folded with just about 2.7M chips left and showed pocket tens – which Daniel responded to seeing by flipping over his pocket deuces.

A couple hands later, Thi doubled up through Daniel as her was good against Daniel’s .

The fast pace has continued as Yannick Lamarre-Delooz has been eliminated in 4th place. He went all-in with and was called by Noeung Troeung holding .

The action has picked up noticeably and the tournament is now down to the final 4 as John Helou has been eliminated in 5th place.

It took two hands to get John out of the tournament. In the first, he found himself all in against a shorter-stacked Thi Nguyen holding while Thi was playing . The flop was a tease: and the confirmed that John would lose the hand with a lower set than Thi.

On the next hand, John shipped in the rest of his stack – about 1.5M – holding . He was called by Daniel Gagnon who played . The flop wasn’t good for John: . The turn was a safe but the river brought the and the end of John’s tourney.

Playground Poker tournament regular Michael Mellor has been eliminated in 6th place.

Michael opened the action UTG to 450K, and if folded around to Daniel Gagnon in the small blind, who flat-called, which he has been doing very frequently from the blinds. Thi Nguyen in the big blind folded and they were heads-up to the flop.

Michael pushed out a stack of whites for a bet of 500K and Daniel instantly raised all-in with a stack about the same size as Michael’s – about 5.5M or so. Michael called right away and the players’ hole cards were turned over.

Daniel had outflopped Michael and the did nothing to improve Michael’s situation. After a quick countdown of the stacks it was found that Daniel had Michael out-chipped by a few hundred thousand and Michael went to pick up his payout ticket.
