The $550 Deepstack ends on a 5-way chop

2017/07/10 - 0:07 by Jôle Simard

The big event of the July Power Weekend, a $550 Deepstack with 3 starting flights, just concluded on a deal that awarded between $20,000 and $33,000 to all 5 finalists.

The Event boasted a $200,000 guarantee, which was not met. When registration closed on the third flight, 290 players had participated in the Event, 110 short of the guarantee. Money finishers enjoyed a nice 27.5% bonus on the prize pool.

Day 2 started with 70 players, and 9 hours later, instead of coming back tomorrow for Day 3, Our 5 finalists opted to chop the remaining pool according to the ICM numbers that were brought to the table by the tournament director.

The 5 finalists of the $500 + $50 Deepstack are taking a short break following level 26, and when they return they will decide the plan of action for tonight. In theory Day 2 has come to an end, however if all players agree, they will have the option to play down to a winner today.

Noy continues to dominate the final table, holding over 3-million in chips, which represents more than double any other opponent. Below are the current counts of the remaining players:

Cristian Muset open-shoved 281K from a late position, and Sylvain Lessard decided it was time to commit his stack. He went all-in for less (about 150K).

Cristian Muset: Ace of Diamonds King of Diamonds
Sylvain Lessard: King of Hearts Queen of Spades

The board failed to hit Lessard, and he walked away in 7th place, worth $7,600.

Moments after, Devon Morgan pushed his own stack to the center with Ace of Diamonds 4 of Diamonds. Noy, sitting on his left, found the absolute pocket. He called with Ace of Spades Ace of Clubs. The board brought a gutshot on the turn for Morgan, but failed to complete his wheel. Morgan takes home $10,600 for his final table appearance.

Congratulations to both!

Devon Morgan

Sébastien Proulx went out in 9th on a hand that we unfortunately missed, but Proulx took $4,000 for his efforts. Immediately after that, Edward Guergis was taken out by his travel buddy from P.E.I. on a pre-flop all-in.

Edward Guergis: 3 of Hearts 3 of Clubs
Trevor Delaney: Queen of Hearts 9 of Diamonds

Board: Ace of Hearts 7 of Hearts Ace of Diamonds 10 of Hearts 10 of Spades

The river was fatal for Guergis, and he walks away in 8th place, worth $5,400.

Congratulations to both!

Mark Fitzpatrick came to the final table pretty short stacked. After paying the blinds, he went all-in from the button with King of Hearts 7 of Spades. Noy, sitting in the small blind, isolated him with Ace of Clubs 6 of Diamonds. Noy flopped 2 pairs and Fitzpatrick, drawing dead on the turn, made his way to the tournament desk to collect his $3,200 prize.

Congratulations on your final table appearance!
