Not too long ago, Noy U was just a little bit short of a million. That was before his Ace-Queen hit the river against his opponent’s Jacks, for a 750K pot. Since then, he has been extremely active, leaning on the table and giving his fellow players a lot of trouble. He is now sitting on 1,969,000 chips. On his own table, the second biggest stack has less than 400K!

Meanwhile, on the other table, Trevor Delaney (title picture) made a very gutsy call against Michael Malouin. Malouin open-shoved the 20K big blind from the button to 501K, sending Delaney to the tank. Malouin was taunting him to call, saying it was only plastic (his trademark comment). He must have said it one time too many, because Delaney finally decided the raise was too suspicious to be that of a good hand (those were his words), and made the call with Ace of Clubs 7 of Clubs. Malouin turned over Ace of Hearts 2 of Clubs. The board came favorable to Delaney. He completed a flush on the turn, to earn the second spot on the leaderboard, on the last hand before the break.

Play now resumes at 12K/24K/a4K. Here are the full counts of our 13 finalists, taken during the break:

Play went on for quite a while at 19 players left. There were a few all-ins, but those who were called were won by the shortest stack. It was Alexander Matveev (title picture) who finally bit the dust, after surviving at least 2 all-ins himself. Remaining players are now sure to make at least $2,300.

Here is the new seating arrangement, with 18 players left:

Our 22 players just took a short break, allowing them to regroup and focus on the pay-jump-related strategy at hand. David Brillon and Cristian Muset, whose stacks almost clashed earlier, are tied for first with 670K. They are now playing on different tables, as you can see in the table below. Not too far behind is Sylvain Lessard (title picture), with 637K.

There will be a $300 pay jump at the next elimination, but the eyes of our players remain on the final table payouts, where gold awaits.

Please see below the full player counts at the break, followed by some more pictures of our deep runners:

The field in the $550 Deepstack is now down to 3 tables of 9 players each. Moments before the redraw, Alexandre Henry more than doubled his stack in a hand that could have been over a million chip. David Brillon opened the pot from mid-position to 18K, which was called by Cristian Muset. Alexandre Henry pushed his 104K stack to the middle, and after some deliberation, Brillon completed that bet, with over 500K behind. Muset, who had previously just called Brillon’s initial raise, went all-in, covering Brillon!

It took a while for Brillon to fold, but he found the strength to do it. He announced that he threw away Ace-King, and was pretty happy when he saw Muset’s King of Spades King of Diamonds. Henry went on to hit a set with his 9 of Spades 9 of Hearts, to make the last 3 tables. A good fold by Brillon, who proved once again that he belongs!

The recently passed eliminations were especially hard, as we were getting closer and closer to the money. Michael Korovine, who had recently built a stack, was one of those rough finishes, falling to Michael Malouin in a dramatic fashion.

Malouin limped in from an early position with Queen of Hearts Queen of Spades, allowing for Michael to tag along at a cheap price with 10 of Spades 9 of Spades. The flop came Jack of Spades 7 of Spades 6 of Spades, spelling action for our 2 protagonists. Bets escalated on that flop, until Korovine was all-in for an effective 135K. The dealer put the Queen of Clubs down on the turn, more than doubling Malouin’s outs. The Jack of Clubs sent Korovine to the rail, and Malouin could not contain a victory grunt.

Eliminations were quick to bring the field down to 30 players. Our official bubble boy is Yan Touchette, who committed his short stack with Ace-Queen, and had to walk away when Anita Halfpenny’s King-Jack hit a pair.

Players are now in the money. Congratulations!

Michael Korovine

Yan Touchette
